Chuck ordered his brand new beast with an ARB Sahara bar  :? :?
When he went to pick it up there was this bar on it that didn't quite look like an ARB unit. The sales manager was saying how they'd not noticed it was different, then went on to blame the fitting agent, then went on to offer Chuck some cash and extra goodies if he kept the bar.
Its an Ironman bar ... and while it looks fine it wasn't what he had ordered and paid for.
My guess is that the dealer / agent / whoever didn't bother ordering the ARB bar until the car was in the lot ... and there's a big delay in the ARB stuff right now .... and when they got caught short they just chucked the Ironman unit on.
The cynic in me would even suggest that maybe they thought he wouldn't notice ....but surely that couldn't be the case.
Anyhoo ..... the Perth dealer will now be arranging with the Pilbarra dealer to have a brand new ARB Sahara bar fitted.
Ya never know ... there might be a real cheap Ironman bar available in a certain Perth foothills Toyota dealership real soon.
I am speechless... There is no excuse and the dealer should be refunding the purchase price of the bar and Chuck should have his Sahara bar for nicks...
Huge thanks to Jeff for hosting something I started! And thanks to everyone who turned up and I hope everyone is happy with the outcome. Now to go out and use them.
I sure am happy just take a look at the finished product Jeff`s modified for me on Sunday.
Recessed section for the front bolts
Spacer welded to back and then milled out 5mm for bolt head
Finished product with a few extra 40mm holes over the body struts to let excess MUD out
TJM should give me a spotters fee or something. they probably know how too do it, just couldnt be stuffed going the last yard to finish off what is a top under body guard..
I thanked the boss for us, keeping everyone happy so we might get another day later on.
Jeff.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

Just like add my thanks to the WA gang for the day. Was great to meet some of the gang and see what bits I need to get
Bash plate will be on tonight, and will seriously be looking at suspension, tyres, and snorkel. Just need a little more rain for the money tree to start blossoming.
Good to see people wearing there PPE while drilling, where do you get the sill protectors?
Sill protectors??? I think you are meaning the Sliders
Jeff
Americans call them rock sliders, although in our usual Aussie way most people call them Sill Protectors. Lets face it that why we put them on to protect the sills. It also sounds better to the insurance companies when you put it down as an accessory, that way there not scared off. Anyhow there very simular to mine and ill let my mate know, cheers. P.S. great thread.

I would like to thank everyone for the assistance with the mods to the Prado.
Without all of you guys it just would not have been possible to do so much in such a short space of time.
The Prado no longer has a the Ironman bar its back to the Toyota bumper for the moment.
I think it was Fishnut that said about the height of the car with the lift and he was right the wife did say gee its high.
but the ride on corrugations is amazing.
Once again thanks for a great day and next I am down I hope we can work in a trip away or provide assistance with some one else's mods.

Sorry Chuck. .... but it is fun for the person doing the zooming
No-one can really guess what is going through a guys mind as he prepares to drill holes in his day old paintwork ..... unless you can get a close-up of his dial. What I really wanted was a close-up of your face when I took to it with the giant holesaw
Mind you, it cut through effortlessly ... I'm so glad I cleaned the burrs off, the hole saw, on Glenn's car first
Thought I'd add it here as there isnt really a better place. Tam and I recently sold the Prado and no longer have a 4wd.
I do however still think you lot are a great bunch of people and if you ever want a hand to do something just ask OK. It has been great going bush but we're all still the same people so it would be great to catch up once in a while regardless.
Anyway, have fun and hopefully see you later.
Sad to hear but as Fishnut said sometime you have to make these decisions for the future. Hope to catch up with you again some day.
Chuck
