  • WA Tech Day

Righto you lot, it's that time again, Easter is over, Mothers day should be cheap  and I'm seeing too many un-accessorised Prados on the streets! Any mods or minor repairs that you have had in mind but not too sure about going it alone, now is the time.
It's only at planning stage but I'm open to opinion on where, when etc. I'm happy to have it here but I CANNOT fit any roof racks in. Sorry. There is a large double-triple carport to work in and a large patio for the stuff that can be taken from the car. I'm sort of looking at the weekend of the 24th/25th of May but we need to be in Perth at 7pm on the Saturday so I wouldn't mind the Sunday. The other way is go a week either side. Depends on peoples wants and finances to get parts.
Anyway, just throwing it out there, let us know what you want to get done and we'll all go from there!

Sounds like a great idea Matt.

I'm even thinking of putting together the other half of my drawer set ..... so the Triton saw table, router, jigsaw and other bits and pieces can be there.

Who else wants to knock together a set of drawers ???

It'll be much easier to carve them all up at the same time.

      Cheers

            I'll be there.
Anything electrical that needs doing, just let me know.
            - A set of draws sounds good. Might have to get a bit of a production line going.

Mainly sheets of 15mm ply for the frame .... 12mm ply for the drawers themselves, but it can be done in all 15mm or all 12mm .... much of a muchness either way.

I priced the sheets at Bunnings then went around to the local salvage place who had the same sheets a lot cheaper .... you just have to sift through them and weed out the damaged ones.

I had a tip off some drawers might be getting made so thats why I thought the patio might be sufficient. Any preferences on when??

Figure out whether you want your drawers in one piece or two ... if you want it in one piece you will want the top and bottom, at least, in larger sheets.

My local salvage place actually did the smaller sheets cheaper than if I had bought a larger sheet and cut it up. He must have landed a cheap load of smaller sheets.

Just something to keep in mind.

I must admit, I dont know. Happy to pay more for strength but then I am questioning what to do with the fridges. Two slides seems rediculous but then lifting a loaded 80lt from the top of drawers would s**k.
The thought crossed my mind of folding up the single middle seat and putting the fridges in there 40lt first then the 80. Then just have a single drawer like you.
Will talk to upper management and report back!

If you want any welding or fabricating done I can get my workshop opened for it.
And if your starting to think heavy weights then wouldn't a steel frame be high on the list????
Plus the 23rd is my birthday but im trying to keep it quiet..
And if you want bearings give me a bit of notice an I can get the Bearings under a work discount if paid for on the day of pickup..

Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.
