  • Moondyne Joe Track - WA?

    Hi guys,

Has anyone here done the Moondyne Joe Track?

I am looking for some more info on it though cant find much on the internet. Trying to plan a fundraiser day trip and want to make sure its "day trip" worthy, not to narrow and enjoyable for all.

    Cheers.

I have done it but it was a very long time ago. I think it is in Days out of Perth book and from memory was quite mild (softroaders type stuff).

        Thanks guys.

I have see the link and been thinking about buying the trips out of Perth book, though it's getting old now.

Was hoping someone has done it recently, trip reports say the only had part is almost at the start.

I did it in December last year with the fam.

We used 4wd days out of Perth, and it was spot on for directions and a great reference.

The only tricky section is the track down to Sappers Camp, but this is completely optional. The rest could easily be completed by a soft roader.

The track to Sappers is gated, and given recent Perth weather, may be closed at the moment?

On the day we started to go down the track to Sappers Camp, but after getting down the first steep section, we decided not to go any further as we were by ourselves, and with recent rain, the track was pretty rutted. The last thing we wanted was to be down the bottom, struggling to get out, as there is only one way in and out to Sappers.

If I was with others, I would have had the confidence to give it a go, and looking back, it was probably achievable as we did watch others go down.

Mobile coverage was a bit hit and miss, given the terrain.

The entire trip took a couple of hours to complete, though the actual track was only maybe 2 hours, though we went fairly slow.

All in all, a nice easy day trip.

If you do try the track down to Sappers, I'd be keen to see some pics and hear your comments.

Hey mate, haven't done the track but do have the days out of Perth book with a few pages about it. Doesn't talk much about the track itself but more about the history and confirms that it suitable for soft-roaders with the only 4WD part being the track to Sappers Camp (which is optional and has a soft-roader bypass track).

If you want the GPS waypoints from the book to help with planning just send me a message.

Hi guys! Newbie 4wder here from Swan Valley. This track was brought up by my neighbour this morning but he can't remember much about it and i can't find more info on the net, so here i am. First of all, where does the track start and ends? I've got a purely stock prado, would that be alright around the track? Im keen to do it next weekend, as i live less than an hour from this area, so any info would be much appreciated. Ta
