  • Abercrombie River NP November 14 - 15

Planning a weekend trip to Abercrombie if anyone is interested now the weather is warming up.

    Rough plan
    Camp at Bummeroo Ford
Saturday Driving the park. it is about a 30 min drive from the campsite to the park entrance.
Most of the park is suitable for stock Prado with good AT tyres.
    Drive rating easy / medium.
This can change if there has been rain as some of the tracks are steep and become very slippery when wet.
I have read that some of the more difficult sections have been graded by the National Parks.

Sunday there are a few tracks to explore near Bummeroo camp site. i have not done any of these tracks.
    Depart Sunday afternoon.

    Any takers let me know.

If you are looking for a track that's a little more challenging, I recommend the Little Bald hill track. Its in the SE corner. Probably rates Medium in Tassie.

I hope you have a great time. Its a great undeveloped area.

Little bald hill is one of the tracks they have graded from what I hear still very steep but no rocks.
A bit of water would make it very interesting, it will be come a big mud slide.
I backed away from it one time we were there, I sank up to my ankles in the red clay while trying to walk up it.

Agee in the dry it would of been rated medium in Tassie.

Unfortunately I can't make this trip this weekend guys, just too much to do at home. Should be a good weekend for you though, especially with a bit of rain and storms predicted around the area for the end of the week.

              Have a good one.
