Thanks for that Chippy i like it "Young Steve"
Great to see people getting onboard with this one. I know that it probobly isnt rock hopping, mud crawling but it will be good to catch up with everyone again and perhaps make it a social day out. If people want to crash in the pub carpark, it gets cold and dark.
So who are we missing so far that should be coming along.
just a nice slow day out whaddya reckon (we struggle with clearance and traction) with a few perhaps too many brews at the other end. I have already nominated my skipper to drive me home at the end. Does anybody know of any other ways home other than the bitumen and the same track home. looking forward to catching up and meeting new faces.

    cheers

        Hi Everyone,
Found this little bit of info about the Fawcett Track.

In 1860 Captain Theo Fawcett and his friend Michael Pollard set off from his home at Pinjarra Park, Pinjarra to find a place of good soil and water in the wilds of Boddington which had been described to him by local indigenous people. Most of his historic route is still off road showcasing 90 kms of Jarrah forest, agricultural land, historic farmhouses, railways and bridges, an area still rich in historic archaeology.
Fawcett’s journey ended at Mokine where he built a homestead which still stands to-day, carry on a little further to the historic Quindanning Hotel.

        Cheers
        Steve

          Yep, I'm in.

As this will be my first actual trip, just want to check what gear will be required? I have just finished fitting two recovery points to the front, but don't actaully have any other gear. I will be doing a course on the 5th and 6th (same one as Mrs Fishnut) and will then getting a few other items as per their recommendation. I don't have a UHF yet, but may be able to borrow one for the weekend. Any items "esseential" for the trip??

          Cheers,
          Ray.

You've got everything you need Ray.

There's no really dramatic sections of this trip and we've got plenty of spare hand held UHF radios between us.

Looking forward to catching up again.

            Cheers
            Chippy

I am in the same boat as you Ray. This will also be my first trip and I still have to get recovery points fitted. Just got to make sure that the boss will let me take time off work.

I was in the same boat on the last trip, but they are a friendly bunch and Chippy kindly lent me his handheld (which I must say is essential, the guys at the front give us newbs some good info on the upcoming tricky bits on the UHF)
I fitted my UHF today so Im looking forward using it on the next trip. Its very pleasing to actually install something yourself, plus it actually works!
Cheers to Bundy for giving me advice on the electrical connections.

                    Hey .. great news Pomp.

The UHF is worth its weight in gold out on the tracks ....

.... and to install it yourself is even better.

BUT BEWARE .... DIY is contagious.

Well guys and gals I've took the plunge and booked the Prado in for a suspension lift and bullbar.

I spoke to a guy in ARB Ozzie park (Mike) he was very helpful. Discussed my needs for the car etc.

I installed my UHF arial with one of those bonnet bracket thingys and I absolutley hate it. It wobbles about and will eventually scratch the paintwork (thats my job  )
I told the finance controller that these upgrades were essential for safety.

Hitting a roo at 100k on those fireroads with no bar doesnt bear thinking about, darling. Only your safety in my mind. (plus I can mount the arial properly)

Hopefully should all be done for the Fawcett run......yippee
