    Hi Folks

Doesn't look like any news on this yet, as the WA folks have nominated 2017, we don't have an event for 2016. As the wheel turns around looks like NSW is back in the seat, how about something mid to Northern NSW around the Coffs Harbour area? Over to you guys, we promise to not mention the State of Origin too many times.

See ya in the tracks, Richo.

I'm a local, so my perspective may be different from others out of the state, but here's my opinion...

NSW differs a little from the other states, in that we don't have any one stand out destination for interstate touring. Sure we have some great spots, Bendethera, Barrington, Kosciuszko, Oxley, and countless others along the great dividing range, but individually they're not significant enough to warrant crossing the country for, and all too far apart to be combined.

What I believe makes NSW most unique is the 4wding around Lithgow. Where else can you drive difficult tracks among scenery as seen below?

Therefore my suggestion would be a Lithgow based event, with possible sub groups dropping into other top locations on the way here.

          Hi Glen

The thought process behind Coffs is that you can do the beach and bush in a close proximity and everything from mild to wild. At the 2010 we visited Barrington Tops with Riverwood as the base, what a group of Qlder's did was take a week to travel down the Great Dividing Range on as much dirt as possible, all the people on the lead up still talk about the trip down. Lithgow sounds good too you just need to cater for all types, from tourers to hard core.

          See ya in NSW 2016.

Either one would be great. The key will be gathering helpers. If it were at coffs, you'd have a few extra volunteers from the South East Queensland crew.

Every time this comes up the talk centres around where people want to go, when in truth that is irrelevant. First find someone to run it, they run it where it suits them, then those who want to; will come along.

FWIW I think its probably back around to being the NT's turn

                Hi Guys

Coffs sounds real good. Was there Easter 2014 and loved it.

Has both beach and bush (from mild to wild), great scenery, good climate and Coffs itself is very friendly (went there for a Ulysses AGM).

Would love to go back there again.

                Cheers

                Frank

mild to wild: Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's many mild tracks at Coffs Harbour, at least none that offer anything spectacular along the way (just bush, bush and more bush). In my opinion that area only stands out for it's wild tracks - very difficult ones such as Commando, Uni Rover, Army, etc, which will only please the very extreme.

I've been through most of the dividing range from the southern border to as far north as Washpool NP, and can honstely say that up north it's almost all easy/boring fire trails (apart from above mentioned). The only track up that way I can think of which offers more mild-difficulty and some scenery would be along the Macleay River. However, that's 3 hours south/west of Coffs.

talk2tiny and AJ are spot on though - it comes down to who's actually going to organise/run it.

Unless there's someone local to Coffs then Coffs would probably end up organised by QLD.

Lithgow is very close to Sydney so has the potential for lots of local support, but is there anyone else down here with interest??

                      Hi Glen,

I'd be keen on Lithgow for sure, would also head up to Coffs but more keen on Lithgow as it offers stunning 'Jurrasic Park' views while on the tracks, i also trail ride in that area so have spent some time out there. Would be good to maybe integrate some walks and hopefully Zig Zag railway will be back in operation as kids would love the 'Life size' thomas the tank engines and steam trains.

Glen. I'd offer but I'm already committed to a 3 week Simpson trip in Sept 2016 so not sure how much time Id be able to devote.

For my 2c. You'll never please everyone so whoever takes the job needs to decide what kind of GTG and stick with it. Eg. Family/touring or Harder stuff.

You've got better knowledge than me but I think around Lithgow gives you a lot of options for everyone, and alternates could be offered. Eg Mt Walker vs a trip to Turon on the same day or down to Bilpin for Apple picking for the kids etc. You've got options to Lidsdale, Abercrombie, Spanish Steps, Gardens of Stone etc. options for walks Gloworm to Newnes for eg.

Various camping options too From the Paid camping at Lake Lyell, more basic Rydal Showgrounds (great pub at Rydal btw), or bush camping round Newnes.

                          Glen I am interested.
I may also be in a position to offer some assistance if some puts their hand up to run it.
Caves to Caves trip might also be an option.
