  • SEQ – Weekend at Land Cruiser Mountain Park -6h & 7th February 2016 - End of an Era

With the sad news that Land Cruiser Mountain Park has been sold and soon there will be no more 4wding out there for the general public, it was now or never to do one last trip out there. Every time we have gone out it has been a cracking trip,( I have posted up a few trip reports in the past of what it is like) so lets end it off with a bang. I spoke to them and they said this is probably the best weekend before they close (the weekend after is Roothys tag along tour and will be very busy)

It will be good to kick back with a beer or two in front of the fire for a decent catch-up as usual.
If you’re interested in joining us put your name down below, it’s always good to meet some new faces and catch up with the regulars and i am aware we have haven't any trips since we returned from the Cape this year. The park is about 2 and a half hours from Brisbane and has a mix of all different types of tracks from mild to extreme, so there is something for everybody there.
    http://www.landcruisermountainpark.com.au/

Date: Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th of February 2016. It’s an event free weekend out there. (We may even go on the Friday the 5th as well if there is interest)
    UHF: Channel 16
Time: Leave Brisbane Saturday 6th We will be arriving ~9.00am Saturday, camping Saturday night and leaving about 5pm Sunday.
    Location: Land Cruiser Mountain Park
FROM BRISBANE: Approximately 2 hours drive, 160km from Brisbane Airport
From Bruce Highway take the Caboolture/ Kilcoy Exit, follow D'Aguilar Highway to Kilcoy.
FROM KILCOY:Turn right at the clock roundabout (2nd exit) to Jimna, follow Kilcoy / Murgon Road. Stay on dirt 16km past Jimna turn off, Turn left at Landcruiser Mountain Park sign on Diaper Rd.
    Phone: (07) 5497 3164 if lost
Difficulty Level: 7/10 this will be a medium level trip, exploring some of the areas we missed last time out there. At LCMP there is a wide variety from easy to extreme tracks. No panel damage is expected.
Vehicle Requirements: Snatch strap, Rated shackles, Recovery points, First Aid kit,
    Lift, A/Ts or better recommended.
Mobile Coverage: Limited Telstra coverage on the peaks
Cost: The park charges $45 per vehicle to camp Saturday night and $30 for the day Sunday. So it will be $75 per weekend per vehicle.
Weather: Looks like a nice moderate weekend weather wise
If the weather dramatically changes we will re-assess.
    Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/P13AL

    Details:
The plan is to meet at the office on Saturday morning, (we will also stop at the BP on the way up to pick up any others) then spending the day exploring the trails. Set up camp Saturday late afternoon and have a few beers over dinner in front of the fire. (I’ll bring a chainsaw out to cut some wood) Sunday we will spend the day on the tracks ,leaving about 5pm, being back in Brisbane around 7.30pm.
There are showers and toilets at some of the camp areas but you can camp anywhere where in the park. Check the website for more info. Any questions drop me a note.
BYO Tents/Swags, cooking gear, beers of the world, food for the two days and water.
Group Limit: No Limit , plenty of space out there.

Of course, the usual trip disclaimer applies:
PLEASE READ THE DISCLAIMER BELOW; IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO AGREE TO THE TERMS SET OUT THEREIN THEN PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND. THIS INCLUDES PRADOPOINT MEMBERS & THEIR FAMILIES & FRIENDS!
