Hi Everyone,
VIC TRIP - all welcome.
State & Location:
VIC/NSW Melbourne to TOM GROGGIN
WHEN:
Saturday 12th until the 14th MAR 2016
MEETING PLACE:
8:30am Saturday 12 March at Officer BP off the Princess Highway
TRIP DIFFICULTY:
Should be ok depends on if it has been chopped up recently. There will be river crossings, bogs and steep hills - typical high country driving. Plus there will be quite a bit of driving as google puts the return trip at 530kms.
TRIP OVERVIEW:
Meet at Officer BP station 8:30 drive towards Bairnsdale and then up the Alpine Highway 20mins to Haunted Stream Track which we will travel along towards Omeo. Haunted Stream Track sounds like good fun has a bit of everything, heaps of river crossings (around 50 some say), bog holes, rocks and steps. I cant say exactly where we will camp but it will be somewhere along the way towards Tom Groggin it all depends on the progress being made and how the members of group vote along the way. On the second day we will continue the trip towards Tom Groggin and we will most likely camp there on the Sunday night. Monday will be spent with a leisurely investigation of the area followed by driving out towards NSW, washing the car in the Murray River and finally onto the Alpine Way. Once on the Alpine Way we will then travel by the highway back to Melbourne.
As with all trips this is subject to change depending on conditions and suggestions made on the posts and the group while driving.
VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:
Snatch strap, Rated shackles, good A/Ts or M/Ts & shovel.
Winch or lockers or traction control might come in handy.
Any other recovery gear you have.
CHAINSAWs very welcome.
UHF CHANNEL:
UHF Ch 10
CONTACT #:
Please post or p.m me your attendance & p.m your mobile number if you are attending.
MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION:

WEATHER LINK:

OTHER INFO:
Bring camping gear and food for the trip.
We will most likely make some QUICK stops at major towns for supplies. However it is recommended that you take enough food for the trip with you. As with most trips I don't expect that there will be any shortage of food brought by the people coming. But it is best to be prepared and have all of the food and drinks with you, including a sufficient amount of water.
Swimming gear if it is hot or wading gear if it is not, someone needs to walk some of the crossings.
