Hi Guys, where did you have in mind? I was thinking about heading to Blencoe Falls for an overnighter, Via Mt Garnet, Gunnawarra Road, Cashmere Crossing, Blencoe and back down to the coast if the Kirrima Range Road road is open (passable). The coast road has been officially closed since Larry but I hear it's open, but a bit rough.

well we have 2 weeks to organize a plan of attack..

there is a track that comes of mlack mountain rd goes through mona mona , over the back of barron river were there is a small water crossing and comes back out through karanda .. looks like a great drive and have heard some great reports on it...

check it out on google earth.. looks the goods...

That's probably the track that comes back over the Barron via Oak Forest Bridge. Have not done it for a few years, since I had my Hilux in the late 90's, don't remember a water crossing though. I may be able to tee up a permit and the keys to go through from Copperlode Dam to Davies Creek, via the Ergon tracks. My sister's ex hubby is a DNR Ranger, that's a good half day outing with some nice views of Cairns. I did have copies of the keys, but I have misplaced now.

Blenco Falls is one of the to do list in the very near future for us, however I dont know if that weekend suits ATM.
Late last year I heard the road to the coast was passable but thought that they had closed it.

i also heard arch is a good drive.. 1 and a half hours to get there 2 and a half for the track...

Sat 21st

I should be in Joey. Just have to get my finger out and get organised for the Cape trip on 28th - should be able to squeeze in a day trip though. Snowy's idea sounds good - so does Blencoe. Blencoe is a drive we have to do this year before the wet. I did it last year from the coast end. Allow for a full 9 hours I reckon. The bloke at the Kennedy general store always knows the status of the road. It was a bit lumpy in places when I did it but no problems. Story is the (then) Cardwell shire put road closed signs on either end as they couldn't afford to maintain it. You used to be able to get through to Koombaloomba dam from there too but now a couple of washed out bridges have stopped that. It's a top drive - only possible problem for some might be insurance-wise if they say the roads closed and you go anyway and are unfortunate enough to ding something - not that I'd expect any dramas as it's a pretty easy drive - or was last year.

Gidday lads, I'm a goer at this stage for a day trip. I haven't done Blenco yet, only been about 70 kms down Gunnawarra Road from the Mt Garnet end, so I would keen to see some new country.

Done, I will approach Neil at DNR on Tuesday about a permit for five cars to go through from Copperlode to Davies Creek Road, Via Bridle Creek Road on the 21st of June. Let you know how I go by Tuesday/Wednesday this coming week.
