Sorry to get your hopes up but the Copperlode trip is a no go :cry: . Caught up with Neil from DNR today at his house, he says we now need to approach two Govt bodies, Wet Tropics and Cairns City Council and neither are likely to approve us :evil: . They are having problems with trail bikes and are not likely to let us loose through there.
On the good side he said we could traverse Clohesy River Road to the locked gate and Bridle Creek Road (trurn off Davies Ck Rd.) as far as the Aboriginal paintings on Bare Hill. He also said DNR are not handing out permits anymore as most roads are now open. So in light of this I would like to suggest two alternatives for a day trip:
1. Emerald Creek Road through to Tinaroo Dam.
2. Irvinbank through to Silver Valley Road.
Or has anyone else got any other suggestions for a day trip? Blencoe Falls would be an overnighter for me, I might get divorced if the camping gear does not get used more soon.

well back in OZ and keen to hit the tracks..
just working on some details with Snowy to see if we need permits from EPA.. will call them in the morning...they are free if we need to get them ..
the Emerald rd track through to tinnaroo sound good ...
I will post details tomorrow ...
sounds like a 7.30 meet up at Macas Smithfield...up the range to mareeba and onwards.....
Bosshogg and Snowy know this track so i am sure they will breif us in the morn....
look forward to meeting the new guys that havent been with us before and catching up with our regular members..

gday guys ..EPA is sending me the forms to fill out for sat....i will forward them to you guys and you will need to fill them out and send them back to attached address. they will process them straight away and i will pick them up fri.....
if you have any hassels give me a PM and i will give you my number and sort it out....
alternatively we can go to many other tracks if having hassels with permits....
also you could go to their office 5b sherriden st and fill out a form there and it will be processed same day...
