To those that have visited the island before, am I asking too much when:

    - Leaving Gold Coast early in the morning, getting to Rainbow/Inskip by about 10am-11am, barge to hook point and getting all the way to Waddy Point in 1 day??

Keep in mind, high tide that day is predicted for 8am with low tide at 1.30pm. Also, once on the island I wouldn't want to smash 80km/h on the beach but instead take it easy, take few photos etc.

No thats acheivable. Last time we went with a group & took about 6 hrs from jimboomba to camp spot just past Eli creek & we weren't in any hurry with smoko & lunch breaks as well

I think you can do it easily. If you are travelling Monday to Friday your biggest challenges will be the traffic on the Pacific Motorway from the Gold Coast to the Gateway Motorway turnoff and then on the Gateway Motorway itself until you get onto the Bruce Highway. Allow plenty of time for these two sections. The Gateway Bridge is a toll bridge, it doesn't have toll gates but you can pay online. When you reach the Bruce Highway you are going against the peak hour traffic which is coming south into the greater Brisbane area. If you are travelling on a weekend you shouldn't encounter too much traffic early in the morning.
You can book your Fraser Island vehicle/camping permit and your barge ticket online, to save time.

      Cheers

No worries. Assuming beach conditions are the usual good.
If there's no sand & it's busy, it can take longer.
It will be a big day.

It's definitely achievable. Just plan to be across Eli Creek before 3:30pm as it can get fairly deep with higher tides. Have fun!

Also check the Rainbow rock report FB page on how the rocks are. Of you get all the way there and can't get through (lately it's had to be dead low) then you'll spend a lot of time back tracking to go freshwater track.

Wish list in order I'll get them: Sliders, 2" lift, E-locker, Winch bar with winch.

That would only be a problem if doing the beach run from Noosa to rainbow. If yore going up the highway to Gympie then out to rainbow then not an issue.

Haven't been yet but from what I've read if you budget $200-$250 for the barge and camping should be close to that. Others might have a better idea

We have a group mainly Prado & all Toyota, going sept school holidays.
Some are camping some are glamping. 10% off accommodation, 50% off barge.
From Hervey bay vehicle barge is now $199 return so $99.50.
We are getting rooms for $120 a night. Pool, buffet, holiday
Camping is about $6 per night per person.
Other Prado crew are welcome, contact me if you would like the details.

                          ####,

How did you score 50% of barge? Rainbow beach barges are slightly cheaper so I hear - obviously shorter distance.

Inskip was $140 return for car and trailer and $90 return for car only last year.

Barge from inskip is $120 return. Vehicle permit is just over $40 for a month (shortest allowed). Camping under $6 per head per night.

The plan sounds feasible. I did it a while back and actually found no camping spots at the point so we still had time to turn around and get back to dundaburra that night and camped on the beach near there. Biggest danger is getting caught in the soft sand at south ngkala rocks. It doesn't look it but the soft sand there combined with the slight incline is deceptive. Get tyre pressures really low. You'll do the rest of the island comfortably at 22 if you wanted to but the bypass there you want to go down to about 14 or less. Every person I've seen stuck there has been because the rest of the island has been fine so they never bothered lowering their pressures properly.
