Hi All,
Well we just arrived back from our day trip to N'Dhala Gorge, I have been wanting to see the Petroglyphs for a long time so today seemed like a good day to do it.
Beautiful weather as per normal out here, sun shining, blue skies and no flies! Yay! :lol:
Quite a few vehicles out at N'Dala today I think I counted about 7 cars. :lol:
The track into N'Dhala is in very good condition, some small corrugations but I reckon at the moment a two wheel drive could easily get through if it had some clearance. Would be a different story though if there was any rain around as some parts would be mud heaven. :lol:
It takes about an hour to do the walk into the gorge and back from the car park area. There is a toilet at the car park for those that get caught short, I know we made use of it.
There are loads of Petroglyphs literally everywhere, you just have to keep your eyes open as most have come down from the canyon sides over the milennia. Even some of the small rubble type rocks have signs of carvings in them.
This is one of the proposed side trips for the GTG and we will be exploring some more 4x4 trails in the area in the next few months to see if they can be negotiated by stock Prados. What we are hoping to do is a big loop taking in N'Dhala, Ruby Gap and Altunga Historic Reserve.
We came back via the Ross River Resort to have a bite to eat and drink, they had the fireplace working and we just wanted to sit in the leather lounges in front of it and nod off. :lol:
Anyway here are some low resolution shots of N'Dhala and the Petroglyphs:
My wife and daughter reckon that in this next photo the rock on the right looks like a lionesses head.
