Just about finished planning and packing for next big trip from Melbourne this Sunday.
2 diesel vehicles : Prado 150 and Hi lux
Can,t wait to get up north to the sunny weather.
The CSR has been the next trip on the list after doing, Telegraph Track,Pascoe River, Simpson, sanddriving in Robe in the last 4 years.
Starting to run out of long service leave also.
Final layout for the prado after much consideration for the journey has been :
Leave Rooftop tent behind, purchase oztent RV1. purchase 100lt fuel bladder (can roll up when not required)
Exsisting Rhino platform rack for storage of above. ( trying to manage weight also )
Remove back seats and install light ply base in place. Large storage containers X2 screwed to base.
50 lt water tk and pump in front of storage system, 10 lt,5lt & slab drinking water.
Self inflating double mattress, bedding with lambswool cover for mattress. (getting soft in old age but makes a difference based on using in rooftop tent.)
All the usual recovery gear ( winch, snatch straps, etc )
Wife is doing it easy by flying to Kununurra to avoid the long trip up the Sturt, along side with friends mate from Perth also.
Will keep a log of fuel use, conditions etc and log in when trip done.
