  • Shakedown test - day trip

    Just a brief report,
Picked up the car thursday afternoon,

and wanted to make sure that nothing would rattle or fall off so went for a bit of a round trip.
Straight across the brindabellas to tumut, then to adaminaby, through shannon's flat on boboyan rd, back into Canberra.

    Map Link

We get off on Hwy 18 for a moment at the reservoir for a couple of happy snaps.

A little further on we stopped again, this reservoir was giving off some stunning reflections with the still water.

Stopped for lunch at Daleny's hut, very nice, it's only been built since March

Then through Adaminaby back home via boboyan rd. No serious off road work, purpose of this day trip was to make sure the equipment stays on, & the factory built the car correctly.
Next trip I'll do some better off roading that'll require engaging low being mandatory.

I couldn't help but notice how impressive this Prado is on & off the tarmac, I have never been in a four wheel drive that was so comfortable off the tarmac, can't wait for the longer camping trips.

    One happy purchaser.

Looks like a nice trip there Choco and a good setup there. Wish mine came home with all the bits on you seem to have on your rig. I've had mine for nearly two years and I've hardly got any accessories

Might have to give it a go one day when I go to visit my sister in the nations Capital.

Is that the winich hook hanging down at the front. Can that be secured away?

                    Thanks guys

Wife (accountant) gave me a budget, I maximised it by bargaining the purchase price of the car & all the accessories. I know with my bike how hard it is to purchase accessories for it. So buying after the purchase would be a mistake.

I was a little surprised too on the bar there is no hook point for the winch, it actually goes underneath towards the bottom..... :? looks weird there.
So were it is now, it's not hanging & it's firmly snug in front of the winch, albeit without the red tag now....
