rang wildlife yesterday, they said there is a crew going up in the morning to check the main road, around lunch time they will know if its open. if we cant get there ya get that, we will just have some lunch at the dingo gate. not worth risking a fine, and we r not that stupid.

This would have accounted for the increased number of cars up there Matt and Samo:

                      irresponsible act ?

If I have interpreted this thread correctly, this has not only illustrated the irresponsiblity of those members involved, it has also lowered the integrity of the entire Pradopoint community.

A couple of members acknowledged they new the rules for barrington then entered a known closed area from a back entrance anyway, also leaving the main track on a number of occassions to get picts of their vehicles on the snow where they are parked on sensitive vegetation ?? Plus we have other members providing accolades ?

Sorry, but if this is corrent I think this is very bad form.

In an age of politics and therefore management that leans to the greener side, do you think this is responsible 4wd use ?

FYI: Over the last 20 years there has been a significant number of road closures all over Australia because people did not abide by temporary road closures and hence caused track damage and management had no other option but to close roads.

Reserves are managed for everyone. Unfortunately a few think they are above the law are ruin it for everyone else.

To maintain integrity, Pradopoint really needs to adopt the "treadlightly principles" that responsible 4wd clubs apply to their members.
                      http://www.treadlightly.org/

Q to pradogxlv6: As a very effective moderator and therefore a person of responsibility on this forum, what would be your response if I used an alternative entrance to this site (which I know there are a few but I have chosen not to use), acknowledged I knew the rules, then broke them anyway and then told everyone about how I did it ??
"Ooops I just deleted the internet, lucky I was able to recover 99.7% of it out of the bin"

spuiro you havent interpreted this correctly at all. we didnt enter any closed areas at all. the back way that pradogxlv6 is talking about is tomalla rd, pheasant creek road, which is the main road that comes up from scone side. it is also the way to the packer property. this road has been recent graded and can be accessed by car, so we havent broken any rules at all by going this way. on this road there r several sets of snow gates that national parks/ local police close if they think the road is dangerous, and these gates were open. as for the vehicle positions for the photos, these were not sensitive areas, they were sidings off the main road, nothing sensitive about gravel with ice over it. as to road closures, the dingo gate was closed and the road was closed on the glouster side of polblue swamp because the road was covered with ice, this was again done by national partk and police. so in no way at all have we broken rules or lowered the integrity of ourseves or the pp community. in future YOU should get your facts right before you accuse people of being irresponsible. buy positing what you did you have only lowered your own integrity. samo

Alright people, I've read the whole thread. Spurio and Samo, you both made valid points.

Please continue your discussion via PM or start a thread in the general discussion section. This is a Trip reporting section so lets keep it that way. I'll be locking the thread.
