Why would a responsible tag along company NOT specify all terrain tyres for country like that? Good tyres, low /correct pressures means little or no problems in the desert if driven to the conditions.

He was caught unawares basically on day one by a couple of things not properly planned for by certain participants

The people with the most sidewall issues hopefully got them changed in Alice Springs, so they did make it ok thankfully
