  • Bridal Track Trip(Bathurst) Sep 6/7 - PLANNING COMPLETED

SEE REVISED ITENARY ON PAGE 2,
THIS TRIP IS NOW SAT/SUN ONLY

    Basic details are

Friday 5th September 2008, meet up at Bathurst McDonalds about lunchtime and a lap around Mount Panorama, then head out the Bridal Track before setting up camp at the "Root Hog" river crossing on the Macquarie River.

Saturday 6th September - chance for latecomers to find us along the Bridal track before we all continue to the historic Goldmining Town of Hill End - we can either camp at Hill End or return to Root Hog crossing campsite for Saturday night?

Sunday 7th September, pack up and return to Bathurst via the Root Hog Trail and Freemantle Road (steep, rocky incline but ok for stock vehicles and great scenery and wildlife).

Please check your calenders and come along if you can. Looking forward to showing off the Central West to a few of you city folk

I'm keen too Simmo but I have just got a call up for the B panel for jury duty starting on the 25th, on an expected 12 week trial.
        I hope like hell I don't get selected :x
I'll be there if I can get out of it

          trade secret for you dobbo......

just walk in muttering....."can't we just hang the bastard now and get this over with?"

          works everytime :P

(Just kidding mate. Jury duty is a very onerous task as the recent aborted trial for alleged murder of that model has demonstrated).

Whatever happens - hope all goes well.

Thanks Simmo, just have to see what happens on the day.

Even if I can't get there this trip I wouldn't mind catching up when I'm in Bathurst over xmas and heading out there then for day trip perhaps. Anything to escape the mother in law

                Thanks Jim.....

Been thinking about that myself. I'll send out another post - probably on the weekend with more details.....and advice - particularly for those people who are a bit scared of cooler temperatures

I have camped there in winter and it is beautiful. I will have my chainsaw and we will have a huge fire and all that. I also find there are far less people around when camping in winter which makes it even more peaceful and relaxing. The place will be ours :P

No probs Simmo, was wondering if the recent snowfalls in Orange and Bathurst had scared a few people off :!:

You're taking a chainsaw .... great, saves me from bringing one. Will bring some nice kiln dried timber to get things started

Do you think I would need to extend the diff breathers for this trip :?:

                    Jim,

I'll double check as the date draws nearer but the water crossing is usually only about up to about the hub level. I don't have a snorkel or diff breathers so I am sure you'll be right....

Maaate, regarding the chainsaw mine is now out of action :? The chain has been recently sharpened, and the bar dresssed, but now the clutch mechanism has broken  . If no one else closer to here is coming with a chainsaw would you be able to bring yours cause we will really need a fire......

COME ON PEOPLE. ANYONE ELSE COMING??

                            Simmo,

I'll try to make it one night or the other and drag some others along. There are four of us at work who haven't camped out for a while - including Drew & BATriton.
