  • Mt May, Mount Barney Nat Park

On Sunday just gone(17/08/2008), Wengnuts invited me along to a daytrip with a few of his Delica mates to have a gander around the Mount Barney National Park area.

Lead... delica owner driving a HiLux
    2 x Delica's
    1 x Prado

One of the Delica guys had some good local knowledge so he showed us some of the lesser known dirt roads with a couple of steep climbs thrown in too. Waterfall Creek Rd is the only low range of the day but when we got to the top it was a short walk to the top of the hill which revealed some amazing views of the surrounding area and Mt May.

We then headed through some rural 'back streets' (all dirt and dust) that once again took us down into valleys and back onto the hill tops... again for some amazing views.

Here's all I have processed from the day... a quick panno looking back towards Mt Lindsey, East Barney etc... (I think ops: )

Nothing about the day was a challenge but it was a nice, leisurely drive around some new areas...
Was good to meet some new faces/people... even though they don't drive Prado's
    Thanks for the invite Kel

... Oh, and thanks for bringing the cake Kel... it was tasty
    Cheers, Leon
There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

great panorama - how do you do that? I haven't played with the programs that stitch individual images together (yet).

apparently there are a few harder tracks around Barney - the bushwalks around there can be pretty steep too.

        Hi ya deetoy...

The panorama is just 5 or 6 vertical shots stitched together with photoshop's photo-merge.
I haven't really had much of a play with any other programs as this one does a great job.

Have a look at this thread over on Overlander if you're interested in Pano's.

snaga... that panorama pic is superb. The swirling cloud formations and deep blue skies overhead contrast really well with the dry brown landscape. Would look brilliant framed on a wall!

Thanks mate... Everywhere you looked it was that kind of contrast and looked amazing.

Might make it onto the wall... there are a few spaces left to fill in the study
            Cheers, Leon
