  • WA trip possibility

I'm not posting a date for a definite trip, But I always hear about land cruiser mountain park from over east. I was always wanting to know if there was something similar over here in WA.

    I have found this.
    http://www.murchisonoffroadadventures.com.au/

    6 hrs north of Perth.

I thought I would post this up and see what the feedback is like for a weekender at this place from the WA crowd.

So WAPPers, how do you feel about doing a weekender, 4X4ing, travelling???

If there is enough interest I will make a call and see what the go is and find a date that is friendly .

(note, well behaved dogs allowed, I know some some them... )

    Tnis is what they say..

    Great idea Jeff,

Sounds like it would be a great place to go for a (long) weekend.

I think I might be able to round up a few well behaved dogs

They're doing quite a good job at setting things up there. I visited earlier this year when they were just getting started setting things up - lovely camping spot on the river which was great for a swim.

It's probably a bit far for most people over a regular weekend (basically same driving distance as to Kalbari). It'd work well on a long weekend though. Personally I can't say I'd want to head up there during the summer as its likely to be just a bit warm for me then, but it's be ideal for a winter break.

I'm hearing you about the weather.

I found this and just wanted to share it, Wasnt planning on a date yet, and thinking about the temps of the days this coming summer it might be a good idea to do it as it cools down abit, Maybe as a shake down before the GTG??

But a dip in the murchison would be a good way to cool off with a frothy top in hand..

              Re: WA trip possibility

              g'day jeff;
have been doing a bit of research into this place lately myself, and looks like a good stopover at some stage when heading north (kennedy ranges /mt augustus), have just spent second week of school hols at murchison station, and what a contrast to the townsite,we literally had the place to ourselves for most of the week, glad to say mossies/midges weren't a problem considering we were metres from the river, although the bee flies by late avo were a bit heavy, was starting to heat up a bit aswell.went for a few hikes in the gorges early morning almost as good as karijini,wildlife/birds including goats everywhere.we then headed south towards geraldton and then southwest towards ellendale pool and coalseam park.ground was starting to dry up a bit but still a fantastic spread of wild flowers to be seen.anyone interested in fossicking and west australian history would also find this a pleasant stopover when the temperature is right,we found the toilets and bbq's here to be spotless and credit to the shire of mingenew.we then reluctantly headed south along the midland road stopping off at yarra yarra lake and mc pherson's homestead around carnamah.stop off for a tea break at jingemia cave ( anyone have any info on this site?).
moora , looks like a good place to spend a friday night, alas on this occasion we were just passing through allbeit with a quite stop for a small middy and meat pie the town pool looked ever so tempting, but the closer we got to civilisation the more frequent my mobile rang .last stop bindoon grab a few bags of oranges off the side of the road and had a great feed at the truckies roadhouse south of town, we then headed for home ,all in all the diversion off the brand highway is,i feel a lot more relaxed/safer driving enviroment.so what have you got to lose give it a go and enjoy the journey to where your going.
