  • LCMP Trip Report... Monday 10th Nov

    When: Monday 10th Nov
    Where: LCMP
Time: 9 or 10am at the park (all day)

A mate of mine is up from Adelaide so it's not really a Prado trip as he has a 100 series but just thought if you're available all day on Monday you might like to join us.
Will be an early'ish start so we can have a full day of wheeling (with plenty of time to relax for lunch etc...) Maybe earlier if we end up going to LCMP.

Final plans will be made tomorrow (Sunday) arvo so let me know if anyone is interested and would want to make the trip to LCMP (Jimna) for the day trip. (I've done it before and it's a pleasant enough drive in one day)

Here's the trip report from the last time he came up...http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic....rdodger#p30055 (he's the blue 100 series... I thought it was an 80 back then ops: )
    Cheers, Leon

I know... sorry 'bout that. It always seems to be the weekdays I can get off rather than weekends.

The rain should be enough to settle the dust but still fill a couple of small mud holes

        OK, LCMP it is...

Have been to Mt Mee plenty of times and my mate was keen to get back to LCMP.
We hope to arrive by 9 or 10am (possibly earlier) and have a day exploring the park. Tracks for the day will probably be yellow/medium mostly so feel free to join us if your free.

(I might still stay the night and drive back on Tuesday... see how we go )
        Cheers, Leon

Re: QLD day run... Monday 10th Nov

Ok, so the day started nice and early for me... well, not really. Got up about 7 and headed off to meet Craig and Co at Kilcoy for 9am.
Got there a tad early... 8:10am so I headed off to the IGA and stocked up some extra food and drinks for the days adventure.
Moseyed down to the bakery and got some B'fast and a coffee.
Right on 9am Craig turns up with a car full of Kiwi's
A quick meet and greet and a catch-up and it was off to LCMP.

Here's the track log of the day.

          Nifty thing this Google Earth

Arrived at the park office just before 10am.

After airing down it was straight into it.
First stop was Telecom Hill... downwards first (no pics) and then Craig headed back up picking the right line first go.

After Telecom hill we headed into the far end of the park passing the Gums Camping area and turned right soon after onto 'Short Rd'

Heading further along the tracks we came across a set of small mud holes so it was time for a quick play.

          My turn...

Gave the bank a bit of a nudge on this run... hey, what are nudge bars for

Next it was off to the 'Pig Pen via 'Jims Jumpup' where Craigs mate had a play first...

Then Craig had to make a wave...

We went in search of Club Rally Circuit after the Pig Pen and found we were on the wrong side of a fence at one point but we did find it... I think. Anyway... same spot as last time the hill got me
Got two thirds the way up and the holes were just too big for me, swallowing the opposing wheels and killed all traction.
Gave it a good go but in the end Craig didn't need any encouragement to get the winch out so for the second time (out of two visits... Wholehog dragged me up last time) I was extracted slowly but surely.
(hopefully there are some pics/video as I was a bit occupied to take any)

About now seemed like as good a time as any for a bite to eat so we headed towards the Gums for a bit of food and to stretch the legs.

          The motley crew...

We played musical chairs throughout the day to keep all the kids entertained.

          Nice spot for a cuppa.

As the "Kiwi's" hadn't seen much of the Australian bush we decided we should head towards the rainforest section of the park so off to Camry Corner and Prado Parade it was.
(again, no pics here... just a nice drive)

So when we popped out of the rainforest Craig was ready for another challenge and headed for Camp Rd.
          First he headed down...

Then tried his luck at the middle track uphill..

No lockers and he didn't get far... another go and another angle...

          But again, no luck...
So, it was out with the winch.

          Well and truly stuck...

That brought us to the end of the day so it was back to the office to sign out and air up...
Had a great day out. LCMP really isn't that far for a day trip. I've done 3 day trips there now and each one has been well worth it.

          Interesting stats for max speed...
Top right stat... 'max speed... 458kh

So, after a bit more of a chin wag and farewells it was time to head off home.
Craig loaded up the Cruiser and we all headed back towards Kilcoy and home.

One might be forgiven for thinking that was it... well, no such luck.
Just south of Woodford on the highway the dash board lights up like a Xmas tree. The battery, brakes and airflow warning lights came on so I pulled into the next servo I came across and checked a few things over.
Everything seemed fine... terminals all connected, plenty of brake fluid, air filter was clean and dry and there were no drips under the car or engine bay either.
So I figured it'll be some thing electrical with so many lights coming on.
I headed back onto the road with all non-vital electrical items off and thought I was doing well enough to get home... that was until I hit the dark area of the gateway motorway and finally noticed the headlights were now very, very dim

The last straw before pulling off the motorway was the ABS warning light also came on so it was... 'can I make it to the shell at Nudgee??' Phew... yes I can. At least here there is fast food while I wait for the RACQ to arrive.
Yep, the alternator was stuffed and the night ended up on the back of a tilt tray headed for Toyota at Woolloongabba.
It was only a $42.00 tow and thankfully Toyota replaced it under warranty in the next couple of days.

All in all I left the house at 7am'ish on Monday and I get my car home 3pm Wednesday arvo 8) Not bad for a day trip

Thanks again for the company Craig and crew... hope the bull bar didn't hurt too much

Oh, and if that footage of me lifting a wheel is around... well, you know... POST IT UP
          Cheers, Leon

Don't need a locker bit it sure would be helpful  Even the yellow (medium) tracks are now getting to the point where a locker wouldn't go astray.
