  • Victoria Warby explorer Sat 15th

    Hi everyone
I am going an a explorer type trip out the back of warburton this Sat. No idea what grade of trip it will be as we will be looking for interesting tracks for the future. So it might be an easy day or we might strike some hard !!
There will be some Landrover type vehicles going so it would be nice to see any other Prados that want to come so I don't get ganged up on.
You will need all the normal recovery gear and lunch etc etc

If anyone is interested then I'll work out meeeting point and time etc later on

    cheers

          Hi Sefo
We will meet at 3417 Warburton Hwy at the Bakery there (look at
street view on google maps) There is parking out front or opposite or
around the corner there so it should be OK. If we can try and get
there about 9:30 ish so that we can get going by 10 at the latest, that would be good.
          BYO Lunch
Channel 15 UHF to start with

We are planning to have a look around the area to the south and east of Warby as a lot of that we have not done
There could be some steep patches and some mud in spots (mind you with the lack of rain there might not either !) but we will attempt to find some tracks that we have to think a little on with what we are doing. We might come across some old logging equipment etc to have a look at as well. There are about 7 vehicles going and one completely new to 4wding

          cheers

Re: Victoria Warby explorer Sat 15th

                The trip was pretty good.

There were 10 cars, 2 Prado's and 8 Pommy cars - Disco's, Rangie and a Land rover. They were all beefed up. Mud tyres, diff lockers, winches

The other blokes were great and the offer of Tim (Prado bloke) to allow us to join in with his mates was fantastic.

There was plenty of banter on the radios, plenty of stories, etc etc.

I'll have more time to spend on this to upload more photo's and stories over the weekend.

It would be great to continue this type of stuff, keep the Victorian's busy.

The trip did involve some good cruising, some good hills and mud puddles, only one section was a bit full on for my car.

                I'll send more shots soon

Nice Shots, i used to own a disco myself b4 i was converted to the Prado, i would have thought the Prado would go a bit better than the disco in the rough.

                      Cheers

Here is a video of some of the day
                        http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=lsusGbtDB2o

There was a Toyota surf along as well !

Being live axle the disco's are better once it gets pretty rough than the Prado. Remember also these ones that we went with are highly modified as well and have better ground clearance than the Prado as they are all on big tyres.
On the hill I winched up there was a rock just before I reached the part where I needed some momentum, that would hit under the middle so I had to crawl over it and then lost momentum. Also I was first up and the ground was a little slippery on top. After I got up we did some road works to make it easier and then as each vehicle came up it got easier and easier as the tyres could bite into the ground underneath

I was a good day, if a little scratchy in places

                        cheers
