  • TRIP REPORT - Yadboro NSW

    Hi all

Just thought I'd let everyone know about a spur of the moment trip we did down to Yadboro NSW near Ulladulla NSW.

There is a camp area at Yadboro Flats ( 35º 19' 57.76" S 150º 13' 10.41" E) in the Yadboro state forest, it has a long drop and reasonably flat camp area with fire pits etc. Its is located on the banks of the Clyde River west of Pigeon House Mountain .The river is a great place to swim and relax, it can get busy in holiday times but we didn't have an issue on boxing day.

There are numerous 4wd tracks in the area, we did Cattlemans fire trial as a side trip to the beach just b4 a hugh storm dumped on us, we had 2 prados and an X-trail who stuggled on the rutts but otherwise coped.

Need to keep an eye out for Trail bikes on side tracks.

There is a great walk up to the top of Pigeon House Mountain the views are to die for but we felt like dieing at the top. There are also a number of national parks close by as well as Shallow Crossing ($$$) down the road.

We enjoied it so much that we stayed for New Years

Anyway for a quick getaway Yadboro is not a bad stop we enjoyed

Pics would really enhance this post... and let others see just how pretty the spot actually is.

A worthwhile post, Google brings up plenty of information and photos.

An opinion is as good as photos in my book.

            Cheers

Yeah, I Google Earthed the co-ordinates... looks like some amazing mountain ranges in the area.
The area was so green when they took the GE images... is it still nice and green?
              Cheers, Leon

Thanks for sharing your pics zylaxas... it looks like a great location. Great views and the climb must have been a fair effort, but well worth it.

The NYE campfire looked a great spot to share a few yarns and a few drinks with friends. You just can't beat it!

I am sure other PPointers nearer to this location will now make a point of getting there sometime soon. Cheers. 8)

Re: TRIP REPORT - Yadboro NSW

You're kidding me aren't you?

I turned up there with camper on christmas day and camped up the other end of the flats. I have the white GX with white bumpers and simple budget camper. We came in, went to the toilet and then headed off to the other end of the flat where we stayed for 4 days! I was going to have a chat but SWMBO said "they wont be Ppointers" Sorry 'bout that. Maybe we'll meet up on the track again some day.

By the way...I didn't see pp stickers - nor did I have any. BUT I have sent my stamps off to TeamPiggy today, so next time you'll recognise me

We had travelled from Melbourne, up to the alpine Nat. park, then down to the coast, stayed on the coast the whole way and stopped at various places all the way up to Sydney.
Absolutely loved Yadboro although didn't get to do any 4WDing around that area as we were in limp mode after taking a complete lug off our cooper ATR the week before at Licola.
We got friendly with some other families at the other end of the flat (Rob & Margaret) who said they'd spoken to you. They invited us on a trip a few days later (2 Pajero's) but we really couldn't risk it. They ended up a bit lost & got back very late that night.

They mentioned "bendethra" or something like that was their preferred place down that way for 4WDing.

Sounds like you enjoyed it anyway...catch you next time!
                      Cheers - Phil Taylor

                          Phil & zylaxas,

Thanks for sharing the photos. I have driven some of the 4wd tracks in the area, and are off to Merry Beach this weekend, so hopefully we can find some more. Those photos from Pigeon House Mtn were amazing. I might have to give some thought to climbing it this time
