  • TRIP REPORT : Crescent Head - October 09

    Hi all,

Just back from our annual surfing safari to Crescent head...... thought some may enjoy some pics.

Hey Matt, should have gone North not south, weather was fantastic, couple of days of drizzle, but on a whole, a great week as always.

Bit of 4WDing, bit of fishing, lots of surfing, and a few social drinks.....

For those that don't know, Crescent head has one of the best right hand point breaks on the east coast of Australia, sourrounded by Natoinal Parks, lots of camping options, and relatively unchanged in the 35 odd years I have been heading there, about 5.5 hours drive north of Sydney..... or about 3.5 from Newcastle. For those that don't like Caravan Parks..... the options of Point Plommer or Hungry Gate are close by National Park sites.

The compulsory Maccas stop at Raymond Terrace on the way up....

The creek that runs beside the camping area. Kids have a ball.

    The Jayco set up.....

    Hat Head National Park..... beach

Beach access track, Northern end, from Hat Head

Beach driving is sensational. Fantastic fishing and virtually deserted.

Beach access was steeper this year than previous visits, needed the Maxtrax to get back out.

Mates Rodeo threw a starter motor

    Sunset....... beer o'clock

    .......A great week......

It's been a while since I've been to Crescent, and have always loved the surf there too.

    Any surfing shots?

    Cheers,
    LFaR.

Great shots. I especially like the 2nd one... the point of take-off. There's something about the thrill of catching waves that moves me even when I see just the pics.

        Go girls!

          Love Crescent Head.

My bro-in-law used to live there and we visited a couple of times.

Is the six hole golf course still there? Classic  What a way to get 'back out' to the break.

          Thanks for the memories

                Thanks Andy.....

I have a delemma,....... first week of the October School Hols, we have met with the same group of people from all over NSW (at Crescent Head), for the past 10+ years..... it's a bit of a family tradition.... kids have all grown up together.....

SWMBO is not keen on missing next year........ it clashes with the 2010 GTG.....

I have already booked next year....25th Sept to 2nd Oct..... working on stopping in on the way home, Saturday 2nd Oct??????
