  • TRIP REPORT - NSW Geehi 20-22 November

Another Geehi trip under my belt (this one is number 3)! It pretty much rained the whole weekend which was a welcomed relief from the heat wave that we experienced in the ACT. Plans made to tackle Mt Pinnibar (via Tom Groggin) were canceled due to the weather but we still had a play around the Geehi Flat and Tom Groggin areas. The constant rain did have a rather interesting effect on the Swampy Plain river: over the course of the weekend it grew to at least 1 meter in depth. In a matter of 12 hours it went from a fairly tame river to something potentially lethal hence requiring an alternate route into and out of the camping area.

A sensational time had by all!

Looking out towards Geehi Flat from Keebles.

Roos are common in the area, un-phased by passing vehicles.

Navara crossing the Swampy Plain river to Old Geehi Hut.

Looking upstream of the Swampy Plain close to Old Geehi Hut.

My attempt at crossing the Swampy Plain from Old Geehi Hut towards Keebles hut.

A couple of bucks trying out for the alpha male title, unfortunately no bets on who was going to win this one.

    Another shot of Geehi Plain.

    Geehi Hut.

    Poser!

Looking towards Tom Groggin Station from Alpine Way

We managed to ford the Murray into Victoria with no problems. Shortly afterwards two trail bike riders followed us, unfortunate for one of them as his bike fell into the water.

Yet another shot of Geehi Plain from Keebles.

Was a great trip mate! Thanks for doing all the organising :-)
I thought it was cool when the light plane came in to land....watching him swoop the landing strip half a dozen times to disperse the roo's before coming in to land.

Gotta give an ups to the Cooma Hotel too....terrific meals and service! I'll definitely be going back there any chance I get!

      Cheers
