Ok just to set the details correct for less confusion. :wink:
BUGGER, ops: I ’m sorry I didn’t realize it was a long week-end on the 27th Feb and was also looking forward to do a camping trip somewhere.
Long weekends are normally set aside for such trips.
I don't mind organising the white hills trip another date unless someone else still wants to run with it.

27th Feb :camping weekend to Shannon national park area.

Open to anyone.
You will have to bring your own camping gear and food, as we are all self-sufficient.
We normally bush camp and explore during the day.

We just came back from the Walpole/ Peaceful Bay area 2 weeks ago.
Peaceful bay is nice, with a nice big beach to play on and a nice 4X4 track up around the cliffs and bays to the west of Peaceful.
Tree top walk is close with some wineries and parrot/ reptile park to name a few attractions.

I dont think we can make this trip, but will attend if possible.

I have just brought a house, and thats the weekend we move in, other half would kill me if I postpone the move to go play
(the upside is I will have a 20x20 workshop to play in now)

Jeff just let me know that West coast 4x4 will be down there at the same time as us so it may get a bit busy there in the camp ground.
I don't think you can save spots Leachy, but you will have to be our forward scout as I can't get there until it gets dark.I think about 8pm.ish

Sounds like fun guys, unfort I cant make it, but some info I have from a recent Caravan Australia mag, that may have already been published on this thread

*Sites 8 - 11 are best for Caravans, campers, first in best dressed
*Free firewood available
*Hot showers - has a wood boiler
*About 60kms from Yeagerup turn off on Vasse Hwy

We are heading down to Pemberton this weekend mountain biking and plan on camping in the Shannon NP so we will see what it is like and report back. I'll also check out alternatives in the area.

We just got back from a weekend in the Pemberton area.
We went and checked out Shannon NP camping and I have got to say it is one of the nicer National Park camping facilites in WA - Hot showers, flush toilets and a camp kitchen. There are 28 camp sites, six of which are tents only and you can't drive a vehicle to them. The other 22 sites are very large and flat and I don't think we would have any problems fitting 5-6 vehicles on two sites.

I asked at the Pemberton visitors centre how busy it would be over the long weekend and the response was "very busy". We should get down there about 7:30pm on the Thurday evening so hopefully there will be a couple of adjacent sites I can pay for and spread the Tvan, Prado and a tent across.

We stayed in Warren NP at Drafty's camp. This was nice but is probably not suitable for a group on the long weekend as there are only a dozen small campsites.

Shannons sounds grouse.
I assume we have to pay for national park entry as well as camp site entry.I can't remember how much it was for national Park entry $35? for 4 weeks or something like that and I think there maybe a 3 day pass.Not sure.
Does anyone know?
