      Great Video's Matt,

What you can't see though in those last 2 vids,..the ones where Dave and I were slipp'n all over the place on that off camber track. Off to the left, a couple of metres away was steep and nasty drop off. So when the rear started sliding around, it felt like you were gonna slip off sideways or backwards downhill into the fence at the bottom. Oh well that luckily didn't happen, so the faithfull Grantreks live to fight another day.

      Cheers
      Stewy

Question: How does one lose their front number plate in a water crossing? Did it get ripped off the screws or did the screws come loose?
        Hi Amts

If you go too fast through any water crossing without at least 4 screws in the plate the water is forced in behind the plate and tears it off the screws. At Nth Stradbroke Island at Xmas and there was a water crossing to the beach at Adder Rock that was about 750mm deep and 3mts wide, every second car that went through lost the plate. Some enterprising kids went wading through after the fisrt day and brought out 30 odd plates and tried to sell them back to owners from a hastily set up roadside stall.

        Regards, Richo.
Sorry Richo, I had your number aswell but forgot to call ya. Would have been nice to see the 150 in action with those MickeyT's fitted for some extra grip.

I'd have to agree with ya on how easy it is to lose a number plate.
I have an ARB Winch Bar but no winch installed. In my case the water pushed forward from behind, forcing the plate to bend up until one corner tore away. The screws and nuts held. I've now relocated the number plate higher on bar holding it now in the bottom corners rather than the top. The top of the plate is held on with some Double Sided Tape. Gordon has his on this way and didn't have a problem all weekend. The only thing to do now is cover the hole for where the winch would go with some mesh.
The plate shouldn't ever come off again as in the new position the Bar has some metal plating behind the number plate, so water shouldn't be able to push it from behind.

        cheers
        Stewy

James Cameron, eat your heart out

I felt like I was reliving each moment. Yep, that was quite a fun day's drive.

I especially liked the credits... "Another damage free day". May there be many more like it.

I don't think he has anything to worry about ops:
The text didn't show when you were holding the number plates and I cut off Fozzy's first slide around the corner behind you somehow :?

Here's a track log screen capture for where we went... doesn't seem like far but still took a solid few hours.
Scary thing is we didn't even get off any of the major access roads

                    Cheers, Leon

                                Rob,

Try heading in from north of Woodford, or west of Beerwah and Beerburrum. Heaps of tracks up that way.

                                Cheers,
