The trip that didnt happen- Alice Springs

Hi,

all where going out to Boggey Hole this long weekend and extending an invite to anybody who would also like to tag along. Leaving sometime Friday and looking at returning Sunday arvo. Short notice I know but other plans for the weekend has been dropped. Leave a message here or ring Sean 0409 240671. Should be full of water since our last big down fall and I will take plenty of pics and a trip report,

Hi Zook.

I was out there only yesterday actually, just myself and Mrs for a day trip - and yes there's a bit of water about. I had never been out there before and yeah it's an awesome place.

I'm also an Alice Springs resident - very keen on seeing the landscape that we have on our back step! I'd would've been keen to join up with you and meet a few people out this way, but working over Easter and then going away early next week.

Should meet up one day though and go for a spin... that's if you're willing to be seen with a Pajero driver :wink:

I joined up here while researching Pajero's and Prado's before making a decision... ended up going with the Pajero... still a (mostly) lurker on here though

we are heading out to ross river for a couple of days, boggey hole is still listed a offically closed so careful re insurance as if anything happens the insurance companies can wipe you.

Hi FC and Stirrer,

im getting mixed repoerts about it being open, John from Hermannsburg went driving last weekend and stated it was open.

As for insurance where with TCIS which gives us all offroad cover, although if the road is closed and you continue that is taking it too far I agree.

The map shows the entrance to Finke park itself is closed form the Northern end but open from the South so I will take that into consideration.

I will be ringing Hermannsburg Police station to confirm this before we head off, thanks for the heads up,

As things go we didnt end up getting out to Boggey Hole after all. Firstly we a had a mishap with one of the kids which saw my wife waiting in the Hospital for 4 hours and then the wife coming down with bad hay fever. We did though make up a bit with a camp oven roast on Saturday night in the backyard and a trip back out to Birthday Waterhole yesterday and amazingly had the place to ourselfs considering how there was a heap of people camped out at the Hugh River,
