I also agree that splitting into smaller and more manageable groups is the way to go (five or six per group?) - and then a lunch meet in an open space, not nose-to-tail parking on a track.
Also like the idea of a tech day... Maybe do something practical tech oriented (I need winching experience...) in the morning, have lunch, bitch about Nissans and then hit more tracks and venture home from there.
Lerderderg/Wombat is a good destination and has places like O'Brien's Crossing or Firth Park for a lunch meet.
