Apologies for having to had bail out early - I hope the rest was as good as to first part. Well, apart from the very first...! I definitely drove down a few tracks I wouldn't have gone down before and learned a few things about the unpredictability of mud.

Now I have to decide whether to replace the left side step with a part from a wrecking yard (cheap)... only to have it ripped and mangled again. Or whether to bite the bullet and splash out on proper sliders (not so cheap). As crap as the original side steps are, it definitely saved me panel dents, so I guess it served its 'one-time-use'. It also managed to somehow slide back a couple of inches, so it's nearly touching the rear tyre now.

Oh, and which cutting compound to try on them scratches first! Apparently this newish Meguiars 'Ultimate Compound' is pretty good. Link below... As I was discussing with someone yesterday, it's only a small number of products that actually work - and even then only if they're applied properly with some elbow grease into it. Some do bugger all and some are downright dangerous in the wrong hands. Ironically enough this stuff is AU$33 in Oz and US$9 on Amazon... Sigh...

Would like to hear any other recommendations... BTW, I have used Meguiars Scratch X and found it to be crap.

                  Nice offroad stripes!

I found one of the better products for scratch removal to be good old Turtle Wax "Cut and Shine". I had scratches like that on my Jeep and used "Cut n Shine" on it before I sold it and it came up really well. If the scratches are through to the undercoat though, there's not a lot you can do...
