        • Does anyone know where we can meet up? Unfortunately I don't know the area at all but as kav said if we take the Morisset exit off the freeway maybe meet along the Mandalong Rd somewhere?? Need some local knowledge here

Now the other thing is the Cranebrook gang will be leaving at about 8:15 - 8:30am so we won't be up there till at least 10am I reckon, is that too late for kav & others? If you guys wanna get onto the tracks earlier that's no prob, we can maybe try to catch up later some where??
          Cheers,

              • Well these storms & rain are proving to be rather annoying; it looks like the Cranebrook gang might head up there another time unless there's a huge improvement in the weather tomorrow

                • I was so close to getting the new rig today, so I might have been able to join you. I was checking out a couple of dealer used 80's in New Castle today. I was about to do a straight swap of the Prado and both dealers were keen for this, given how good the condition of my Prado is and how much they could sell it for, but I had to walk away from both. They both had numerous mechanical gremlins that were going to cost big $$ to fix.

Maybe I'll be able to join you next time fellas.

                  • Hi Glenn, its suppose to be roughly the same tomorrow with only a few showers (no storms) but saturday is more rain and storms like where having right now, bloody so over this crappy shit although I must say I had fun ploughing through the huge puddles around Penrith this arvo on my way home LOL was absolutely spraying I reckon a good 10 foot in the air, would come down that quick over my windscreen even with wipers on it took a second before the wipers cleared the water lol, 3 year old was cheering thought it was great, actually bought myself a weather shield from Toyota yesterday so I can open my bloody window without getting drenched......Cheers Steve

Shame about the 80's Declan; what sort of work needed doing?

The first was blue marlin auto with dual fuel, and the auto box appeared to be on the way out as it was very hesitant to up shift and would only down shift if you flattened the pedal, but it could be as simple as a poorly adjusted kick back cable. It ran fine on LPG but would barely run on Petrol so I think there might be a leak in inlet manifold. The engine rear main seal was gone and the auto box was leaking Dex III from somewhere and the T-case was also leaking from several spots. It also had the well known 80 series firewall rust/cancer.

The other 80 was a manual GXL, and it seemed more mechanically sound than the other but still had several leaking seals including the engine rear main plus either t-case front main or the transmission rear main seal. The radiator was full of rusty water and engine oil was a bit sludgy for my liking. It had the 80 series firewall rust on the passenger side but the driver side seemed fine.

Looks like it it'll be a trip to Parramatta road for me in the next few days

                          • hmmm those rear mains & firewall rust seem to be a regular problem! You'll find something; just takes (sometimes lots of) time! Are you still considering a GQ GU??

                            • Declan dont forget carcity at Minchinbury, they have a huge range in there. No luck selling yours yet ?? Dont forget its tempting to trade if your not having much luck selling privately but your better to drop the price a tad and try again, as the vehicle your buying from a yard will be overpriced and if you can get the prado sold its also so much better to either buy from a yard or privately with $$ in your pocket people love it. My best offer was 22k for my old 95 T/D grande, sold it privately for 27k, my 120 prado was advertised for 36k (at penrith Toyota) got it for 32k (low klms, one owner always serviced by toyota and was local owners who I contacted before i bought it and asked some questions, they bought a new kluger), so got 5k extra for selling private and saved another 4k walking in with cash so 9k all up. Unless its some unreal deal which normally means its true good to be true dont let the heart over rule your head, your smart young guy ........Cheers Steve PS if you ever want me to help you look let me know if Im not busy Ill go with you for sure, some times 2 sets of eyes are better........

                              • Yeah, I'd get a GQ or a GU if I find one that's mechanically sound and is at the right price ;-)
