Not likely! I still have to order the rebuild kit. Yeah you should be right with Koyo bearings on yours.

Whats the degree of difficulty? Google says theres creeks crossings.

I have 50mm lift but no snorkel yet.

                          • G'day Guys,

What's it like around Hill End/Sofala area these days? Are parts of the bridle track still campable up to the rockfall or not worth it? Thanks

                              EASY
The bridle track from Hill End to the valley is very narrow and has very steep edges but in terms of 4x4 it's a walk in the park. I once drove a heavily packed 1992 Camry down there and it only bottomed out once!! If you come across someone towing a trailer, on a narrow section, that's when it get's interesting!

There's only one required river crossing over the Turon River but it's a concrete based ford, normally very shallow, easy as. A snorkel is not normally required. Other optional crossings in the area are natural, and then there's the Macquarie River which requires a snorkel and care as it's deep with large rocks.

When I camped there as a kid there used to be so many potential camp sites from the moment you reached the valley, not anymore. The first 1km section is overgrown. Basically the only camp-able areas are 200m either side of the ford. Also, the camp sites over the next hill had long grass last time I was there. Beyond that I've never tried camping, but yes there's definitely more spots there if you're willing to go off road or even cross the Macquarie. The road avalanche is well beyond that, so plenty options
