      • If anyone is interested, DGW & Myself are heading to Ourimbah on Sunday 19th. Run will likely be Medium-Hard, not suitable for anyone without Lift, Recovery Equipment and good AT tyres at the least.

Details to follow regards to meeting place etc, however if you're interested register below and we will organise more depending on numbers.

              • the Princess & I will be heading into Newnes State Forest over the weekend as its not far from the palace....so if anyone wants to raise their hand & offer their attendance it will be gratefully considered

Saturday or Sunday....we can do both days as we can multi task & are multi talented. That's providing the Princess Mobile doesn't suffer any fail to proceed problems of course! However with the new boots & hopefully more reliable ARB air compressor all should be fine.

Lithgow weather report is looking ok atm........

Destination: driving around in circles as usual, see previous trip reports

Meeting will be at Zig Zag carpark sometime in the morning.
                Cheers,
                Glenn

I have to quote a job in Penrith at 9 and was then heading up the mountain.

Headed out Saturday and had a pretty good day.
Started out from Lake Lyell then made my way around to Mount Walker. Left Mount Walker alone this time.
Then headed over to Newnes for a bit of a play up the pipe line and along the power line tracks.

The power line track tried to rip off my rear bumper and somewhere during the day I lost one of my license plates. Oh well I had fun so that's all that matters.

On another note. Glen, I am seriously interested in checking out the supercharger. My poor old girl needs a power boost. With 470 000km on the clock she doesn't quite have the get up and go she used to. Have been tossing up a 1UZ transplant, supercharger or UniChip with headers. Have to do something as I am getting a little tired of putting her into low range any time I go off road.
1UZ transplant brings back memories of dropping a 307 chev into a CJ7 in my younger days but have done my research and its a big task.
Supercharger expensive new, but easier to install. But on a 470 000km motor I'm not to sure.
UniChip and headers definately the cheepest option but unsure of the increase in performance.

Plenty of research still to be done. But very interested in your thoughts on the supercharger.

                              • No doubt the supercharger is great, it's easily doubled the power. Your km's are a bit of a worry though. They say don't SC your engine if it's over 200,000. Mine just happens to be around 215,000, but I'm not worried because I've already settled into the idea of rebuilding it one day, and I expect to get enough life out of it post-rebuild to make it all worth it. My rig has cost me a lot of personal time and effort, due to the body lift and engineering, so I'm holding on to it as long as I can.

Yours is nearly 500,000, though. The real question will be, if you install a charger and the engine fails 10,000 km later, what will you do? Can you rebuild a 500,000 km engine and still expect another 200,000 of life out of it? I don't know enough about engine rebuilds to answer this one. The alternative options in that situation would be; source a low km 3.4L and re-install the charger? Or replace with a v8 and sell the charger?

For me, that first question is the important one. If a 500,000 engine can be rebuilt and go another 200,000 without trouble, then SC. If not, then don't waste time, just go a v8. That's how I'd decide.

Oh, there is one other factor - luck. This SC came my way at a good price. Sometimes it's just a matter of what good offers you can snag.

PS - if you want to see what mine drives like we can always meet up one day, bush or street. Just keep in mind I have 4.88 ratios and 33" tyres so it won't be a direct comparison.
