  • NSW Meet Up 2007 (take two)

Right, it's on again - NSW Meet Up 2007 Part One, Take Two.

When: Weekend of 2nd and 3rd June, 2007.
Where: Watagans State Forest, Central Coast, NSW.

    The plan is to stay in the area of The Pines Camping Area, 33°03.79'S 151°20.14'E (56H344636E6340478N) {GDA94}

There are a few camping options in this area so we can pick an choose.

Access is easy to the camp ground, I'm planning on taking the Jayco. There are HEAPS of tracks in the forest around the area so there is lots of opportunity for short trips radiating from the camp site. I'm hoping to take the Mrs and the Little One, so the idea is for it to be a family weekend.

I'm on night shift on Friday so I can't head up until Saturday morning, I suggest those of us heading from Sydney and environs could meet up at Mooney Mooney at 9am on the Saturday, just across the Hawkesbury River on the freeway there is an exit on the left to the Old Pacific Highway, meeting at the picnic area near here looks to be a good idea, apparently it's easy to get back on the freeway from there.

So who's in? It should be a fun weekend, the good thing about that area is if you don't want to go rough 4WDing you don't have to - or on the other hand, if you want to do that wicked track again, you can as it's all within a few kilometres of the camp site.

If you'd like some OziExplorer compatible maps of the area, let me know.

Looking forward to meeting you all on the weekend.

    Cheers,

    Drew.

At this stage count me & my boss in. I have a few things coming together around that time. We are picking up our new Kimberley Karavan in a few weeks so it may work out well for it's 1st run down.

        Cheers

Embi, I knew you wouldn't be able to resist some co-ordinates.

Maybe a better place 2 meet is the Ourimbah rest area? Its right alonside the F3. Just take the exit off the roundabout and on the left and there's a nice rest area with toilets etc. Very easy to get onto the F3 from there.

I will probably meet you all at Martinsville or at The Pines as I live not too far away.

                  Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion Pete. Camo suggested the Mooney Mooney spot, apparently it's very similar in that you can get straight back on the F3 from there.

We'll see what happens and how many are coming from Sydney.

Took the Leader Of the Opposition and rest of family up to The Pines for a Mothers Day picnic. The Pines Camping area which is just past the Pines picnic area seems about the best campground.

There are two more camp sites (Turpentines and Casuarina) about 1km further on. Depends on numbers however the Pines Camping area would be the pick I reckon.

Hardly any dust as the roads have a bit of moisture on them at the moment.

                      Cheers

I stayed at Turpentines just over a month ago i found it was very good for a couple of reasons.
One, The area is a bit out of the way from the main camp ground so it stays reasonably quiet (lots of trail bike at the other camp grounds coming at going at all hours  )

Two, The accses is is a little rough its 4wd and company car access only. The only hard thing about the spot (like most of the camp ground around this area) is finding a flat spot for anyone with Trailers

I think the best plan is just to have a look at the camp grounds and find one that suits when we arirve

Pah! I don't need all that level a site for our Jayco. We purchased a set of leveller ramps - they are great!

                            G'day Kelvin,

Sorry mate, I hadn't been watching the QLD thread all that closely so I didn't take that in to consideration when choosing the date.

There's always next time I guess.

                            Cheers,
