  • Weather conditions 1-5 October Geehi/Tom Groggin Area

Looking at organising a trip to Geehi and explore a bit of the area over the course of 3 days (using Geehi as base camp). I've travelled to Geehi numerous times but never during October period. I'm hoping to show some of the mates from Sydney the area and give them their first river fording/low range 4WD experience.

What is the weather like during this time of the year? Does it get busy considering the weekend is during end of Term 3 school holidays?

I don't know the area but I think with all the rain, the rivers will be UP!

Well its a bit like Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercars race weekend which is one week later.....

It can be unseasonably hot or it can be near on snowing.....or somewhere in the middle

Either way it will still be a great weekend as you have already been there to see the Geehi plains for yourself. Just prepare for any eventuality

      Cheers

Just a heads up that the weather was absolutely perfect; cool but not too cold during the nights and warm-ish during the day (I was wearing a t-shirt). Was a real good trip even though most of the tracks were closed.

BTW, one of the fellas managed to hook up a 3kg Brown trout.

        Stay tuned for pics!

          NICE!

BTW, I heard that the roads normally opened after the long weekend will be delayed for 2 weeks due to the amount of rain we have had down here....

Its obvious that the rains that occurred 3 weeks ago did a whole lot of damage to the region. There are multiple areas with signs of landslides, heaps of erosion including one area just after Dead Horse Gap where there was bits of bitumen that eroded so much traffic only flows through one lane. My favourite track to Mt Pinnibar was closed.
