I am not going top Melbourne so will have to say next time. We are doing the Great Alpine Road from Wangaratta to Bairnsdale and down to Lakes Entrance. Then it is around the NSW coast (probably catch up with Dobbo) and home mid Dec.

Yep, just checked, still forecast for rain or storms fri and sat, but should be a warm northerly wind so will be pleasant rain - and in those northerly winds the Bureau of Met generally don't have the foggiest idea whether it will rain much or at all - they just think it might. And often in those conditions it's only localised rain - could get 50mm and hail or nothing at all. Anyway, a bit of rain helps keep the dust down - and I didn't buy a Prado to be boring...

Stan - you mentioned BBQ lunch - are we planning on stopping at a picnic area with fire pits or should we be bringing a gas BBQ? I have a Weber BabyQ (yes the one that got a lot of airtime on another thread recently) that fits nicely in the back of the Prado that everyone can share unless we are going to one of the spots with wood fireplaces... Although it might be a good idea to bring it anyway in case it's raining - we can set it up under your awning (I can't believe I still don't have an awning, damn it!)

                  Cheers, ld

Wazza, I have a portable UHF you can borrow - it's not an expensive 5W one but it's also not a crappy el-cheapo toy one either, it's somewhere in-between, I can't remember its power, probably either 1W or 2W, but I've used it in convoys before and it usually works well within a kilometer or two. That's all we'll need for this outing. Let me know if you'd like me to bring it.

Longdog -The lunch area has a good size roof cover over it, so the plan is for gas/shellite powered BBQ and we should be fine even if it rains.
If you got the space for BabyQ this would be great. My awning is staying home at this stage as I am too lazy to put a roof rack on for a day trip

                      Cheers,

                            Wazza,

There are no BBQ facilities, we'll bring our own, you'll be able to use it for cooking as well.

The meeting place is in McDonalds car park.

                            Cheers,
