          • Hey guys, i'm spewing I missed the meet you've already had!! Anyone talking of another? Will admit to not having the greatest organising skills myself but am keen for just a day in the bush with mrs and boy and like minded people!

            • Hi Matt

There will be plenty more. I'm just catching my breath - and cleaning up a lot of camping gear - and I'd love to get out again.

JeffS is down in Mandurah too and one of the conversations, a few months ago, was visit the hills out the back of Harvey.

I'd love to have fairly regular trips.

              Cheers

You can sign us up for that too!

Matt, you'll love it. We did our first one up through Wilbinga and had a ball with a great bunch of people.

Chippy is correct, I think the banter over the CB was to give Harvey a go and it was going to be 'around October...ish'

                  • I'm going out searching soon. (September 15) When I find a new track I'll organize another day out unless some one can beat me to it. I just scored a look at a map book (emergency services book) that shows lots of tracks near the Serpentine - jarradale area.Unfortunally I can't copy it but that area need investigation. I’m also going to have a look some out the back of Bullsbrook some where.
Another good trip would be near Waroona dam area or from Preston beach to Waroona dam but I don’t know those tracks and haven’t yet got a gps with topo mapping.
If any one can think of a good trip I’ll be happy to give it a crack. How about the heritage trail at Dwellingup , a good little track that would be a great one and maps are available from the Shire ranger. Nice picnic areas and I can remember a rope swing there some where.

                    Just my thoughts
                    Russ

                      • Sounds like a good idea to me.

You could do a meet in Mandurah, head South and drop down to the beach at Whitehills Rd, run 22 Kms along the beach to Preston Beach, head inland through Harvey, cross the South West Hwy and head up into the hills, then hang a left and meander along the top of the scarp towards Dwellingup.

It's a reasonable hike.. I just don't know enough about the 4wdriving opportunities in the hills to estimate the amount of time required. Sounds like it's worth a recce though.

                        Cheers

                        • I scanned this track from a map I have.
It took about 4.5 hrs with out a lunch stop which would take another 2 hrs plus sum play time. Total could be 7 hrs once you get there.

                            • Used to do that loop from white hills to preston and across to waroona ages ago.

Waroona dam itself is good fun with lots of mud and rutted hills but have been to harvey twice in the last twelve months just off of honeymoon road which is about 5k north of the town and in there is alot of little tracks but I dont really know of any places to go from there. We just drove straight there, mucked around and came straight back which is a bit boring for an organised trip.

I know alot of tracks around dwellingup got closed after the january fires but have not been back for a while. Has anyone else seen jeff s' photos of his harvey trip? Do like the look of some tracks like that!! Just give me mud!!

                              • 143 cans?? far out! We had an 80 litre waeco for family use but I got sick of getting told off for taking it over so gave that to the boss and bought a 40 litre for myself! Probably not too practical having two fridges but at least I wont go dry!
