    VIC: Sunday 28th of November: Wombat SF TRIP REPORT

    DESTINATION: Wombat State Forest and Surrounds

    DATE: Saturday, 28th of November Day Trip

    MEETING: 8:00 AM Bacchus Marsh McDonalds Car Park, 15 Gisborne Rd, Bacchus Marsh VIC 3340 (near corner of Gisbone Rd and Bennett Street)

    GRADE: Easy - Medium

    VECHICLE LIMITS MAXIMUM 8

    EQUIPMENT: Basic Recovery Equipment- at least front and rear recovery points.

    RADIO UHF: 16

    TRIP ACTIVITY DETAILS

    Another day trip around Wombat State Forest area. Simialr to the last trip - viewtopic.php?f=29&t=10766, but will take some different tracks. BYO lunch, camera and sense of humor. The plan is to have BBQ for lunch, so please BYO meat, sausages and cooking gear as the lunch spot might not have a cooking facilities.

        hey the dse have started there annual burning off started today might pay to check where there burning they cut alot off it off at this time

              Looking good for Sunday now Stan, at least for the first half of the day. We're heading off to Mallacoota early Monday morning so I may have to shoot through after lunch to get packed for the next morning.

                Thank you Stan another wonderful Victorian day. Its was good fun and weather wasn't to bad .
                Geoff thanks for leading again you know some great tracks.
                Stan I don't think will ever have 694's on again out bush.
                Pete and Geoff even got to use their winches. Here are some shots.

                  great trip report fellas, looks like a top day had by all, see vic turned the sunny weather on again , hey stan where's the mudders would have been nice and fun with the 694s on. cheers samo
                  had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

                    A short trip report:

                    As usual we met at Maccas car park. The weather leading to the weekend was quite wet, so by
                    the time the trip was on most of the rain has finished.



                    Due to the recent rains most of the rivers in the area were full with lots of water going through them





                    Crossing a small creek

                    Everyone had a little bit of trouble on this section





                    Down to the river crossing




                    The river was overlowing with the strong current, so we couldn't see where the big rocks are located
                    and no one was game enough to walk it through. So the decision has been made to go back up
                    the hill and avoid all the river crossings untill it safe again to do so again...

                    Lunch Stop



                    The lake in our lunch stop area (Firth Park Picnic Area) - I haven't seen this lake full for at least last 10 years,
                    2 years ago it was almost dry...













                    Damage for the weekend:

                    2 cars with arb fog lights both had one of the lights crack while doing all the river crossing...
                    Arb might have to review quality of their fog lights...


                    Everyone had fun and looking forward to next one, just have to wait for the right VIC weather :lol: :lol: :lol:

                      Looks like we are are getting the best of the vic weather at the moment samo :twisted:. The muddies stayed home as I was too lazy to swap the tyres over for
                      the day trip and most guys didn't had any traction issues on the last trip. I was quite disappointed with d694 performance on the wet bush tracks... Yet again my car got rear difflocker, and compressor electrics have got trouble at the moment so the locker won't engage, which means that I am pretty much driving with rear open diff...
