    NSW: Monday December 27th: Newnes State Forest

    Back to our favourite forest again! No agenda planned; we shall play it by ear where to go! The weather forecast is not looking too good atm with showers predicted but we'll make the most of it 8)

    Meeting at: McDonalds at Richmond, corner of March & Eastmarket Sts Richmond at 8:30am, departing around 8:45-9am http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&bi ... CBoQnwIwAA
    From there we head west along Bells Line of Rd. to the Zig Zag railway carpark just before Lithgow.

    Bring: Prado, morning tea, lunch, camera, full tank of fuel, air compressor/recovery gear, sense of adventure!

    UHF channel 19 We wont use ch 16 here as the miners in the area use it.

    I bought myself an ARB compressor that I'm keen to put to use, so I can't wait 8)

    Do you mind if I borrow a UHF from you for the day :?:

      Sure no prob with the UHF; I discovered why the batteries weren't charged properly last time so should be good to go now!

        Sorry Glen, I can't make it.
        I'm heading back to Gilgandra for a few days on Boxing Day.

                    Nothing is planned but we could go there if people want to, we'll see what the consensus of opinion is! weather will be a factor too.

                              Well it was another great day out at our favourite forest, found some new tracks we hadn't been on before plus plenty of fun at the wombat holes as usual Declan managed to drive down them without tipping his vehicle over & gained some more driving experience :wink:
                              Weather was very wet & foggy on the way up but cleared up & was sunny for most of the day.

                              Airing down at the Zig Zag carpark



                              Then it was off to the tracks















                              We found a track that went near Farmers Creek dam







                              From there it was over to a track on the other side of the valley to the Lost City







                              Found this funny looking garden gnome in the middle of nowhere :shock:



                              We'll do this track another day, could be fun :twisted:





                              Found another track on the next ridge







                              Then it was back to the carpark to pump up tyres
