Well guys we had a very eventfull day.
Fours of us decided to take a run through condamine gorge, the day went to shit pretty early in the day and didn't get any better.
Two cars left Brissie and two were coming form the Gold Coast.
We met up at Boonah and all was going well as we headed off about 9.45am from Boonah, about 45mins down the road on the way to the Queen mary falls we decided to stop on the side of the road for some photo oppurtunitys.
We pulled up on a nice patch of grass about 150 metres past a causeway with a crest on the other side of the causeway.
As we crossed the road and took some shots a white Pathfinder went by, next thing we hear a loud bang and we look up to see a motorbike and rider flying through the air and two four wheel drives colliding.
That was the start of the 4 hour epic.
The bike rider ended up in the gully and luckily for him he landed on some very soft Grass. The occupants of the 4WD's were allright but seriously in shock.
We ran up to gully to find the rider at the bottom of the gully but alive thank God.
With no mobile phone service we had to drive 15mins to find a house with someone home to use their phone.
An off duty ambulance officer in the area took 45mins to get their,
the ambulance and police and fire took over an hour to arrive from warwick.
By this time an hour and a half had passed, it took an another hour to get the rescue chopper in and uplift the rider, he had broken ribs, hand, elbow and internal injuries.
After three and half hours the only thing left was to clear the cars and even that turned into a drama with the tow truck turning around around and getting stuck in the gully, I give him a snatch with the prado!!
We ended up taking the two people in the Pathfinder back to Brisbane after that as everyone was emotionally worn out, so we still haven't got to the condamine, maybe another day.
It really hit home today how isolated you are out in the bush and how a nice sunday drive can turn into a horror story, so next time you are out doing what we love take it easy and be careful on the country roads.
