Re: NSW: Sunday January 2nd 2011: Newnes State Forest

Another top day out.......as usual :!:

Ended up with 8 vehicles for this trip. We met up with Jeff at the Zig Zag carpark where we aired down tyres

Heading to the wombat holes.....where else 8)

Then over to the Lost City

      Driving through the forest

We stopped here & Luke decided to get the Ford Ranger bogged. Les kindly snatched him out 8)

Stopped at Nayook Creek for lunch. The hill climb would have been a major effort to conquer, not today :!:

Then over to Happy Valley to play on this little hill climb

From there we drove up to Bald Hill trig to watch the approaching storm

Back to Zig Zag to air up

      Video for your amusement

Thanks to everyone for coming along today especially those who travelled long distances. I'm sure our younger drivers gained some valuable driving experience today

Looking forward to the other photos & videos, post 'em up guys

      Cheers,

      Glenn

thanks glen for organising the day and putting up with us rollups , good fun was had by all . im still amazed by what these prados will do so easily . i didn't even realise you were videoing , nice work ,thanks . the car got a thorough wash on the way home ,ill only have to wash the wheels as i copped that huge storm between richmond and blacktown ,some of the heaviest rain ive ever seen ,almost had to slow down as the prado sliced through it . didn't even bother to air up . drove home with 30 psi in the tyres , a beautiful ride , thought it might aquaplane a bit in the wet but it was actually better than normal . nice to meet some of the ppers and to all thanks for a great day . once again thanks glen for showing us around one of your regular haunts .

Re: NSW: Sunday January 2nd 2011: Newnes State Forest

              Hi Glenn
We came back from Lake Eyre yesterday and as we went past the Zig Zag just after 6 pm I saw all the Prados. We followed the storm all the way from Orange to Sydney. Got rid of most of the red dust. Can't wait to catch up again.
(We did 5150km in 9 days covering, Bourke, Cameron Corner, Arkaroola, Maaree, Coopers Creek, William Creek, Cooper Peedy, Some back roads between Peterborough and Menindee, the darling river river run back to Bourke and yesterday, back to Sydney. The Prado performed faultlessly in 45 degree temperatures, doing 10-12 hours driving through some tough terain)
              Cheers

Re: NSW: Sunday January 2nd 2011: Newnes State Forest

I new it was you i drove past! I passed you heading the other way on the section divided by the concrete barriers and it wasn't until you were right near me that I recognised the green paint job of the Boomslangmobile, tried to raise you on channel 40 but you mustn't have been on it.

Sounds like you had a fun-filled trip away, you'll have to post up a trip report for all us all and then tell us all about it on a future trip.

                Cheers,
                Jeff

The day got off to a good start with a few additional attendees, and even a GU Patrol that hung around for a short while

Glenn goes first as the queue at the base of the wombat hole grows

Les (Quicky) lifting a wheel or two

Stopped to have a look around at the Lost Village

Looking for some water for Luke to get stuck in

Wait up, he found some mud instead

                  Good job Les

                  Happy Valley

                  Bald Hill

The 150 survived with only slight sidestep injury

Thanks to Glenn, Jeff, Stuart and Les for a great day out.
