No worries to all, There are plenty of tracks to go on i do not know where every one has been but they must be sum tracks out there that i can take everyone on
Fantastic part of the world. I was lucky/unlucky enough to be down that way on 12 January this year. For those in Qld you would realise the significance of the date. This is what Tooloom Falls looked like.
The Gwydir Hwy was closed for repairs during the days, so we had fun pulling the van all the way from that camp through the back blocks to Jackadgery. Fun times.
We werte down there last year on our way to the GTG, we had lunch across the river at the side of the bridge, when we were there it was quite crowded maybe we nee to pick the time of year better.
Regards, Richo.

This was Sept 08 during Qld school holidays. The camp sites at Cangai bridge were still busy but not crowded. I was amazed this large area was deserted. I actually thought we were camped in the wrong place for a while but there were remains of campfires around so I guess it had been used before as a camp. Have been looking for a reason to go back through the area.
I had a fish in the river at the time with no luck, but a couple of the most restful hours I've spent in many a long day.
I do not no what time frame you fella's have off eg, I only have the weekend off at the time begin without arranging sum more time off from work.
You might know most of the spots around the area but it helps with sum local brains??. I was wondering on how to approach the big day out when the time comes as far as location on starting and the difficulty of the day or days ahead. Please give me sum Ideas.
Cheers Keith.
Hi Kieth
Weekends are fine by me as well, with plenty of notice. I love the area but have not explored via 4wd much. We tend to hitch the van up and keep mostly to formed roads. The pics at the start of this thread have inspired me to be a bit more adventurous but I only would in a group. I agree about local brains, anyone who knows the tracks in the area would be great. Meeting up in one of the small towns would be the way to go I guess. Rathdowney, Woodenbong, Urbanville etc.
That ok Richo and Steve O the van is ok, I was thinking about haveing the weekend around the Drake, Bulldog Forset , Washpool area there is sum mine sties to have a look at, A lookout as well and one good 4wd track to go down to the rocky river and back if the gate is locked. We can be based at the washpool creek and explore the area from there, If anyone likes bushwalking there one mine and a boiler which we can walk to as well.
