    Queen Mary Falls via Condamine River Road

    Thinking about taking a trip up to the Queen Mary Falls via the Condamine River Road on Australia Day. I don't have a snorkel and was wondering if any S.E. Qld PP's have been that way recently and can advise about the river level on the water crossings.

    Hi Jim,

    You won't have any trouble judging by the river level, will all depend on the condition of the crossings after the flood. Best advice - go for it. Make sure you take lots of pics!

      .76 of a metre is still a bit high especially if u have no snorkel but again check it out, walk and check the crossings first, the worst that can happen is u have to turn around and go back the way u come. Without a snorkel i wouldn't go much over the knee and or about 600mm. That is my 2 cents.

          Hi Jim

          I am interested, we went through a creek at Glasshouse recently showing that height, not a problem. The bottom there is rocky but I looked at the data and a 6.00mt high may have seriously changed that. We are in the Redlands (you spotted our 150 as the first one) so either post some details or sned a PM.

            A day of frustrations. We drove up from Boonah and found the Condamine River Road closed at the northern end. Continued on to Queen Mary falls but found the walking tracks down to the falls also closed. Drove down through Killarney to the southern end of the CRR and found it was also closed. Saw a few vehicles at the first crossing which was about one metre deep and flowing briskly. One Patrol ignored the sign and drove through. Apparently one of the crossings further up was up to bonnet height and another had a fallen log across it.

            Decided to head back to the Cunningham Highway via Freestone but came across another closed road. Backtracked to Warwick and headed over Cunningham's Gap which is undergoing extensive roadworks due to landslides.

            Saw a lot of flood debris very high up in the trees all day and many of the roads are badly cut up. So many of these creeks look so small and peaceful but they can pack a punch. A lot of areas have been affected by flooding so I think local authorities have quite a job ahead of them.

            Still the country is so green and we saw so many cattle in good condition. It was good to get out and about and blow the cobwebs out of the Prado.

              is a good source of information for all the DERM locations across QLD, it has the access closures etc listed and when they are being next reviewed
