LFaR: I just got a quote back for the transfer case (TC) plate with a lead time of 3-4 weeks. But as timing is out of my control, I won't try to make promises. The fabricators had failures with the plasma cutter last year and I can only assume that it will be smooth flowing from now on. I've been away for a week and will get back under the car again to get the prototype model sorted for the TC. As for the 2 main plates for the 150, only the front one needs a bigger bend on 2 folds. One of which is to allow for a diff drop. Otherwise, it fitted up perfectly. I'd imagine that the next batch of 120 and 150 will start pretty soon with the TC plate not far behind.

        Tei: noted.

Really? Tell me more I didn't think you'd be interested as you don't have the problem with the Sovereign bar - but I'm sure there are a lot of people that would be. Move over ARB, amts is coming

              • Mines different because
                1. It was the first plate "Number 00001", gold plated Collectors edition as evidenced by the unique number, and
                2. the absolute pounding they have received so they are no longer shiny black/gold, now more of a rustic silvery, gravel colour, and
                3. The unique identifier has been scratched back so it cannot be read, or identified any longer making it look like an abused ordinary plate that everyone else gets.

Is my bonus plate ready yet? why am I waiting again? did you not learn anything from the first traumatic experience having to deal with my childish ways?

                      • G'Day AMTS,

Finally got the opportunity to fit the bash plates. They look good and fit well except the grade of spring washers used. They seemed to be too soft of a material because as you tighten the bolt they started to spread. I also had to use the original bolts for the radiator cross member plus one old one from the transmission support strut. I found the two large washers supplied bent too much. The washers on the old bolts gave better support for the larger washers.

                        Otherwise job well done.

                        • Hi winniliss

Did you have HT flat washers in the fastener kit? Maybe I missed them but you shouldn't have the issues you mentioned. They are the yellow zinc plated jobbies.
I haven't had those issues and I've taken my bashplates off many times now. Happy to send you any replacement fasteners.

Yes, the smaller ones. The bigger ones (silver in colour) were used for the two oval slots on the ARB radiator plate. The radiator plate had to bolt on last so that your bash plate would fit flush along the radiator mount. And just to keep sizes consistent I just re-used the other two old bolts for the other two holes. It's all good.

I did forget to have a closer look at the access plates for the engine. When Toyota services the vehicle soon they won’t loose the nuts on the other side of the plate? I take it they are fixed to the plate?

Of the few that I have fitted, the ARB plate goes on first, then my bashplate goes on. This may solve the problem of the large washer bending. Perhaps the slots on my bashplates are narrower than ARB's.

The nuts are a form of nutsert. They have a hex shank and so will/should never turn in its hole. They are fixed to the plate and Toyota shouldn't worry about losing any nuts.
