  • 150 GXL Rear Diff removed to fit ARB Air Locker

    ITEM: Rear Diff that ARB removed to fit their Air Locking Differential. I don't know much about it but what you see is what's taking up space in my shed.
    CONDITION: Almost new (removed predelivery so maybe 10 kilometres tops)
    REASON FOR SELLING: Not needed now that air locker is fitted and taking up space
    PRICE AND PRICE CONDITIONS: I don't know what it's worth. $30?
    EXTRA INFO: Heavy and I have no packaging so prefer pickup only but again will consider delivery if you're super enthusiastic.
    LOCATION: South Brisbane (Slacks Creek)

        I'll be coming through NSW and SA in August for the desert to the track trip so if it's not sold by then, I'll bring it along.

          Tiny you are selling this too cheap mate. I just rang my local dealer and was quoted $1400 for a complete diff assembly for a GXL. NOw I'm not sure if yours is classed as complete but I'm assuming the air locker was a swap out job so no parts were removed from your existing diff to fit it.

            It's getting a bit technical for my limited abilities but the way the ARB guy explained it to me was that this wasn't a complete swap out but rather this part comes out, the ARB bit slots in and most of the bits are re-used. I'm fairly confident there's bits missing compared to a 'complete' diff assembly. It might be worth more but really, if there's a PP'er who can get some good use out of it, it's doing more good than sitting in my shed. If I get enough out of the few things I've got up to pay for PP membership I'll be happy.

              Fair enough Tiny, my dealer did say you can buy just certain components but I couldn't tell him exactly what yours had.

                  I would think that a complete diff assembly would have the crown wheel and pinion, the housing and the yoke. This is only the "differential" part of the diff if that makes sense, think just the very middle bit without the cogs and casing if you can picture that.

                  Still a bargain if someone needed it.

                    It's not a complete diff, it's the LSD (limited slip diff centre) that was removed from the 3rd member to fit the airlocker.

                    It's cheap considering Km's but these like older Lux's (exactly same LSD) wear out quick and ate not very effective for long.

                    Put it on eBay and list under prado/hilux/4 runner and you'll get 100-150.

                    That's all it's really worth.

                    The ARB guy was right, this LSD assembly is a complete swap over when they do intsall as all they do is remove the carrier bearings and swap them to new locker centre and reinstall it and drill and tap housing for airline.

                      Thanks Brad. I'll give it a few weeks on PP and if no-one wants it, I'll give Ebay a try and maybe put the price up a bit.

                        Thanks Roo, but if the air locker ever goes, I'll probably replace it with another air locker. I'm pretty happy with it.
