Give away modified ARB roof rack mount to suit 120 series

I bought the mounts to fit my Jaram roof rack which is only 1450 long. So I have cut the ends shorter and drilled a few extra holes. These things are made from steel so the extra holes wont affect strength. The ends usually look like the middle mount with double slots. For the Jaram rack I used M8 bolts into the unitstrut rails and at the front and back used a 6mm spacer (teflon chopping board) which was rivetted in place. I cannot comment on whether it will be ok for an ARB rack any more but it would be easy to weld flat bar on to suit.



Front is cut at an angle to make it look purdy. You can see how there is only a single slot remaining.



Rear is much the same story.



Here is how it looked on the 120. I never bothered to take any close up shots but this shows the general way it fitted.

Another couple of shots to show the base fitted to the rack



This is when I was testing whether the idea would work. The ARB mount is as yet unmolested and you can see what was cut off in the name of roof racking goodness.



The rack mounted up to the Prado. Solar panel, roof rack, Prado, trees, sand, grass etc not included. Can throw in a black cable tie.



This shows the main bolts holding the base onto the rack and to a lesser extent the front with spacer and rivets. The smaller tabs are what attaches to the roof, the centre mount can be seen and one of the two rear holes. All 6 mounting holes are as per original ARB manufacture it is only the top that has been edited.



This is a close up of the fitting to the car. I did not bolt into the factory holes but instead made up plates that were permanently fixed and sealed to the roof using the factory captive nuts. I bolted the rack mount into tapped holes in these plates into which I fitted M8 studs. This meant that I never had to worry about whether the seals would let go and the inside get all wet and nasty. This was a one off I did but you can see how the set up worked from these pictures. It also let me fit the roof rack in about 10 minutes.

Not sure what else could be adapted to fit on these. With the right application and judicious use of special workshop words which only need 4 letters to articulate I am sure it could be used to mount other racks or platforms.

Would rather it go to a home, good or bad doesn't bother me, seems such a waste to chuck it out and ARB want something like $200 for these.
