Hey all,
After a lot of development time tuning in the valving and off-road testing, the big day has finally arrived!
This group buy offers custom valved Ironman Foamcell Pros for the Prado 120/150 to Pradopoint members, and also to our friends over at FJCC with their FJ Cruisers. The review threads for the front struts and rear shocks can be found here;
http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...-the-Prado-IFS
http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...the-Prado-rear
There has also been another thread running discussing the group buy, which also contains many technical details, including how the valving has been changed compared to the original valving. It can be found here;
http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...-foamcell-pros
The custom valving that has been developed is suitable for heavy off-road tourers. There is only one version of valving for the front struts. There is a hard and soft version for the rear shocks, and I will supply all rears with the soft valving, and the additional rebound shim required to turn it into the hard version. Please note that the Ironman Foamcell Pros are a fully rebuildable/serviceable shock that you can take apart in the comfort of your own garage with the Ironman c-spanner. The coils appropriate to the custom valving are recommended as 670-725lb/in for the front depending on accessories, and 270-280lb/in for the rear.
In addition the buy will also offer Dobinsons and King coil springs, front swaybar relocation blocks, longer rear swaybar links (OEM type and heavy duty Ironman and Roadsafe adjustable length type), c-spanner for adjusting coilover height/strut and shock disassembly, and strut caps. Struts can be supplied pre-assembled with the purchase of strut caps. Firestone airbags with kevlar sleeves will also be offered.
You will require front swaybar relocation blocks and longer rear swaybar links with these struts and shocks.
The price structure for the group buy is below;
Ironman 45710 custom struts: $540/pair
Ironman 45682 custom shocks: $420/pair
Strut caps: $100/pair
Dobinsons coil springs: $185/pair (front or rear)
King coil springs: $190/pair (front)
Ironman front swaybar relocation blocks: $77/pair
Roadsafe fixed length rear swaybar links (30mm longer OEM style): $80/pair
Ironman adjustable rear swaybar links: $120/pair
Roadsafe adjustable rear swaybar links: $130/pair
Ironman c-spanner: $77
Firestone rear airbags: $285/pair
Firestone Kevlar sleeves: $75/pair
Valve shim stack/materials costs: $40 (added 26th June)
Payment will be required in full.
Please note that the group buy will proceed in batches of 5 members at a time in the original order that you have joined the list. It will be done this way due to stock limitations and the time required for re-valving. I already have something like 100 struts and shocks to re-valve, and the rate at which I can complete this task is dependent on both supply of stock for struts, shocks and valve shims. For this reason it is more convenient to do it in batches of 5 members so you are not waiting for weeks after you have paid your money.
It is also for the reasons above that the group buy will run for a significant length of time, at least 1 month, to enable me to find stock and get the re-valving completed.
There will be no additional labour charges for re-valving or strut assembly, as I am absorbing all of this cost by doing it myself.
The complete list of members currently on the group buy is given in post #2.
To get your coil selection correct, I will require all details of your vehicles. Front and rear accessories, including bullbars, underbody protection, winch, secondary battery, rear bars, rear draws etc etc.
Please forward all of your details to me at [email protected]
I will require;
Name: (including your Pradopoint member name)

Email address:
I will require all of these details so I can get accurate delivery quotes for you. I also require a street address as deliveries cannot go to PO boxes. I will be adding a standard $80 delivery fee to your suspension costs. This delivery cost will go up and down dependent on your distance and location from me in Brisbane. Most major eastern cities will be around this figure, but the price can increase significantly for WA and remote locations. That being so, I will either refund you a small amount after delivery, or ask you for additional delivery costs. For anything over the $80 delivery cost I will ask for the full payment before delivery.
Once I make contact with you via email I will make available all of my contact details, mobile number, bank account payment details etc. Please note that this group buy is fully monitored by Pradopoint administration. If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact Piggy, amts or myself.
Please note there are two Ironman versions of the rear shocks, 45682FE (80 series) and 45682FEC (Prado comfort spec). While the FE and FEC run different Ironman valving (which is removed and replaced by the custom valving), The FE and FEC are geometrically identical in every way except for the top bushes. The 80 series FE bushes do not have 150/FJ locating washers and as such if you receive the FE version shocks and you own a 150/FJ, you will need to re-use your existing 150/FJ rear bushes/locating washers. If you have a 120 Prado and receive FE shocks they will bolt straight in with the 120 locating washer supplied. Depending on stock availability, you may receive FE or FEC. The first batch of 5 are all FE shocks, as these were the last remaining stock in Australia.
A group buy of this size with all the R&D and components on offer doesn’t happen easily, and Ironman have been fantastic to deal with every step of the way! My good mate John at Zordo’s 4WD Suspension is also acting as the Ironman distributor for this group buy, and it wouldn’t happen without him as the middle man! Parcels will be sent via Johns courier with tracking.
Lastly I’d like to say thanks to Pradopoint admin for allowing the group buy to happen, and a big thank you to all the members who have hung in waiting for this group buy, it has been a long time in the making, but it is worth the wait, I know you will all enjoy this suspension!
Any questions/issues, just email me!
