Turnbuckles for Engel Fridge - M8

Hi ALL

I'm trying to find a set of hook-hook turnbuckles to hold my Engel down. Think it needs to be an M8 as the distance is around 270mm. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can buy them online from, I'm in Alice and none of the 2 hardware stores sell em. I can find stainless for around $15 each + shipping, was thinking I could get 4 a little cheaper if they were Gal.

Any pointers would be appreciated..Pete

Try your local electrical wholesalers though they may be hook/eye. Also maybe your local TV antenna installer might have them he may sell for cash.

Get the ARB fridge straps, much easier to get the fridge in and out

Hi you could try United fasteners in Adelaide 08 83604622
Sourced some M8 fork to fork stainless rigging screws from them when I was looking to fix my Engel to the Slide.
I think i paid about $12 each. Even if they post them you will not be paying that much for the quality.
Check them out in My Rig Build Up.
Prefer the adjustment of the rigging screws compared to webbing, more positive.
I was put off of webbing type tie downs by my Nephew whom stated the straps he had used to anchor his National Luna fridge down in the back of his Landcruiser canopy gave him the Sh!ts by forever losing tension on his Cape York adventure in 2009.

I have a set sitting at home that I didnt end up using... In stainless to.

Grab a set of IRONMAN straps.. $25 and they are bloody good!!

I just picked up a pram on the council bring out your dead day, cut off the straps and fastening clips and made something similar to the Ironman ones. Total cost $0.00

A hardware store should have some cheap adjustable straps. Bunnings does. Just cut to size and use these. Has worked perfectly for us for 12 years.

I have stainless turnbuckles on my ARB fridge which is permanent in the Prado and I use the straps on my Autofridge when I do a big trip. The turnbuckles are far superior IMO.

Just Straps sell the same strap, I got them with my slide & they were about a $1.80 cheaper than the ones I saw in Opposite Lock.
Not sure if they were Ironman or not. But as MUMSRIG says they are VERY GOOD!!

Not sure that turn buckles or those fancy straps are really the way to go! Spotted this excellent setup in the back of a PP members Prado on the Border Track over the weekend.

LOVE IT! I think the member should be named and nominated for "mod of the year" along with another that felt he needed better access to his max trax.

"Just Straps" do the Fridge tie downs too - Same as Ironman! Can order on net. Seem simple enough to use, cost under $30.
