  • Anyone have a spare new IPF900XS Extreme spread spotlight they will sell - BNE?

I am chasing a new IPF900XS spread and ARB will not sell them to me in singles only pairs,
I want to add this to my currrent pair for offroad use.
    Cheers

I have a recollection from somewhere that multiples of two lights is ok by ADR or road regs whereas an odd number of lights can get constabulary attention. Still probably only get asked to remove one if caught.

Gumboot, you've got me thinking of doing something similar. I too have the IPF 9000 extremes, both as spot rather than the usual spread & spot combination. Whilst not as good as stepping up to the HID's, you know they still punch out good light to over 1,000m, however I could use more light on the road margins.

The plan is, I recently had a warn wireless remote hooked up to the X9.5 winch which means I can now move the largely redundant existing winch control box off the bullbar and locate it elsewhere like inside the bar or engine bay. The new transmitter and receiver are separate to the controller.

That freed up area between the two existing IPF spots would be perfect for one (or two) of the new array led light bars now on the market. Something like a 10" LED bar attached to upper tube cross bar and a 12" LED where the controller was. Combined they should give up to 15,000 lumens.

That's the feasibility plan, now to get funding approval from the household financial controller.

Wastegate, your correct there, all lights facing forward must be equally match each side of the centre line of the vehicle. As told to me by a not so friendly officer.

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado

You could always mount it exactly at the halfway point of your truck and then say yep half a light that side and half the other....of cause I'm kidding but hey it's a thought, nearly 5 am and worked 22hrs straight so don't flame me.

I like your thinking, however, with said not so friendly officer - may end badly...

I already have 2 spot HIDs and the 3rd in the middle will be a HID spread. I will put a quick disconect on the wire so can just connect it up when I am bush, so should be ok if I get pulled over. But hey who knows these days but I see a fair few around running 3 lights.
I am also going to put a winch on and do a remote mount of the control box behind the drivers headlight.
As I can find a single IPF anywhere and ARB wont sell them in singles, i think i will end up just buying another pair and keeping one as a spare.
              Cheers
