I am planning to cross the Simpson Desert in June. Planning to mount the sand flag from the roof rack/basket. Has anyone got a sand flag pole that they no longer want?
Cheers
Jim

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado
Hey Pradogang
Hope your Simpson Trip Planning and acquisitions are going well.
Mate on the Sand flag/Dune Pole, I believe that a minimum specification for the pennant of your dune pole was set for the Simpson Desert a little while ago.http://www.anfwdc.asn.au/news.php?id=93
Would pay to check out the requirements: https://www.mr4x4.com.au/4x4-news-sa...n-the-simpson/
Have a safe trip mate and please share your experiences and photography with the rest of us.

The pole is 2.2m above the roof basket so all is well. Thanks for the good wishes, we, Al , John and myself (2XPrado 120 series and a Pajero) have been planning this trip for 6 months, travelling Mt Dare to Birdsville. Can't wait.
cheers

Jim, I wondered about attaching a flag to the rack - which seems to make sense, but wondered about the rule below -which says "Front" of the vehicle. Tony (Heading across on about 8 July)
Vehicles:
With front bulbar - flag pole attached to the bulbar, with top of the flag a minimum 3.5 metres from the ground
Without front bulbar - flag pole attached via bracket at the front of the vehicle, with top of the flag a minimum 3.5 metres from the ground; alternatively flag pole attached to the front of the roof rack, with top of the flag a minimum 2 metres from the roof of vehicle
