  • Tigerz11 steel winch bar, be smart or be careful ...

3 weeks ago, I searched for a good steel winch bar from Ebay and found that Tigerz11 store got some brand new steel winch bar for sale for 90s with good price. The first impression of the ad was mixed, not clear, not detailed ad and not completed photos of the item.

I gave them a call and the lady answered the phone nicely, then I was convinced that the bull bar should fit fully if I am using a 90s, of course, I own a 90s. I paid straight away by credit card.

That's when my not completed story started.

I received the items quite fast, however, ASAP I was very disappointed when opened the box because there was no instruction to fit what part to what part. Then all bad things showed up:

    - One of the mounting frame has very ugly painting job. It is clearly that they painted it and wrapped asap by nylon bulbs then all the bulbs shape show up on the surface of that frame. By the way, this is not a big deal.

    - Then after trying many ways, I found that the frame is absolutely NOT DESIGNED for this bull bar in any mean. There is no way I can bolt the mounting frame to the front bar. All the holes that I can assume to fit the frame to the bar either are too big or too long or too short for mounting the 16mm bolts they supplied. Even I thought that it needs to be filed off about 1cm somewhere but there is no warranty it can fit firmly together then.

Believe or not, they supplied 8 big bolts and washers but not any piece of instruction. Now I am doubt this bull bar was made under an authorized engineering and passed real tests with a real 90s.

    - ASAP I contacted Tigerz11, they slowly replied that they did send me a very good one. Then they requested me sending photos to their warehouse email address.

    - Extra problems were found that the bar was fitted with terrible quality signal lamps and fog light lamps, which only 2 days later I found moisture are in all of the lights on the bar.

And one scratch from the bar start getting rust now, the scratch was under the wrapping covers when I got the item, so it must was there before sending to me rather than the damage in transit.

With all the problem like that, I emailed Tigerz11 to request return items and refund me, however, they are keeping silent even I emailed to their warehouse's email and Ebay's account email.

The story still is not finished now.

I paid $$$ to find out one thing that I got so bad item with a poor engineering design that has no way to be able to fit the parts together -> So I am very doubt that this bull bar can fit into my 90s later.

One important thing is that, Tigerz11 is trying to convince me that they supported me the right one and it may be one-off bad example, however, they seemed do not want to answer me anything about the returning item to their store or refunding me.

I feel so sad about this but just want to put my story here, so if anybody has any good idea about the story like this, I really appreciate.

Thanks for sharing your story with the forum mate. Sorry to hear it was a bad one! Another warning to people as to why you shouldn't buy the cheaper imported brand. when you buy cheap, you get cheap. Especially when it comes to copies of reputable brands.

I hope you get a satisfactory resolution...

Sounds like you have a very strong case for a claim through OCBA ( Office of Consumer and Business Affairs). Don't modify it if you haven't already - this may hurt your chances of a refund. Contact them if you dont get a satisfactory outcome from Tigerz.
          Good luck.
          Cheers, Ben.

            Thanks for your replies mates.

In term of a seller also, I feel very disappointed with this case. Because in any case items got faulty or not as advertised, we are always responsible to recall items and refund the return shipping fee + refund the original payment, even the items were sold overseas or interstate.

Especially in this case I thought it would be right after giving Tigerz11 one phone call before paying for item.

That's why I put my trust into this seller.

Unfortunately, it is not the thing that I would receive.

@ Ben: Nope, I haven't installed or modified anything from this bar, just keep it as it was to me in order to return it asap.

Thanks for your idea, seems I have to contact Fair Trading office (is that right?) or OCBA as you suggested.

@ D4D: I understand your thought, but actually I got another offer like that price directly from another 4x4 store in Lansvale which they promised will install the unit for me. Just because this store could not get the item back in stock within some months and I don't want to wait so long.

It's a pity you're in Sydney as Tigerz11 are have a big 20% day on Saturday June 16 at their new Warehouse in Melbourne (Roothy is making an appearance as shown on the 4WD Action website). Would be a good opportunity to put them on the spot for a resolution to your issues...

Yeah I agree with Craigm. On the spot is the way to go. I was in the same position once James with a camper trailer, that I bought from SA off the net.
While it wasnt an expensive brand (it was brand new though) I certianly didnt expect rust, torn canvas, trailer lead to short, tyres hanging out guards the list went on. These pricks wouldnt reply to phone calls, emails, then when I threatened that I would run my hilux and camper through there show room plate glass windows that THEY then started with the ""you dont know who your dealing with"" threats.
So when Penrith had there camping and caravan show (Im going back a few years) all up and running I took the camper along with my mates tray top tow truck with camper on top set up with all the faults and the camper brand name plastered all over the sides of the tray top with ""what a piece of shit the camper was"" etc etc, I then sent a picture from my phone to them saying ""you dont know who YOUR dealing with asshole" I then instantly got a phone call from the manager who was supposidly over seas telling me he'd see me in court, told him to send me the details of when he wants me there with my solicitor.
All of a sudden I was offered a full swap over for another series 2 camper which I agreed on. Mate dont back down from some of these businesses. I dont care if they offered it for $200 or $2000 it isnt what they described and is useless so keep at them.
Sold the camper 12 months later, it was 100% better then the first one but after 12 months it to started to rust, seams come apart etc. Lost a couple of grand but would have lost more if Id had kept it Cheers Steve

Thanks Mates, that's one good idea. I will try to contact to Tigerz11 again this next 1/2 week. After that, if they still don't want to go ahead, I think Fair Trading office will be the place I will go for. Placing a case like this into the court is what I thought of because not only for me, but also for preventing those bad things for other 90s owners who may be a victim of those bad engineering items.

I wish if I am in Mel, then this stupid issue will never have any chance to happen, and surely I can bring this one to their show to get a clearer answer and much better their online solution.

*** One big problem with Tigerz11 online on Ebay, they actually try to avoid using Paypal because they don't want to get trouble with Paypal whenever their items are bad like this, they only accept credit card just to give customers much more headache whenever problem comes up.

Unfortunately, it is quite late to understand that now I have almost no protection.

Maybe so but its not that simple.
Ebay policy requires that the seller use PayPal or possess a merchant credit facility. They only allowed the merchant bit after being taken to the ACCC and loosing.
Using PayPal costs sellers quite a lot in fees and they are a real PITA when things wrong. I've had PayPal remove a very large sum from my account as they reckoned someone had complained about something I sold them. I contacted the buyer (in Spain) and he said he had made no such complaint and provided me with a legal document stating this. PayPal did not acre one little bit about this and only returned my money after I took them to the Australian Banking Ombudsman. No apologies, no explanation as to how they screwed up, no refund of all the fees this incurred.
About 2 weeks after this I get a nasty email from a USA guy I bought something from asking why I had filed a PayPal complaint against him which I hadn't. Dollars involved were similar to my Spanish issue. I told him about my drama and provided him with a stat dec. Some 2 months later, he emailed me advising he had sorted out his issue but now had one of his buyers with the same drama.

PayPal is very useful until things go bad. They will deduct from your account without notice. If you don't have sufficient funds in your account, they'll sell the debt to the debt collectors. They've done this to me also.

So, we are Ebay PowerSellers who offer PayPal due to a buyer convenience but we offer alternative payment options as well as a discount to those who will use anything other than PayPal.

I'm not a supporter of Tigerz and I'm currently having some issues with them as well but there decision not to use PayPal is not necessarily to avoid refunds but may just be a sound commercial decision. Tigerz are just children compared to PayPals proven ability to not dal with problems.

@MalcomM: That's my idea from what I heard from them when i asked Tigerz11 before, they said not using Paypal because they don't want to get problems with Paypal in refunding and returning items and they claim they would have no protection (which is quite wrong with Paypal policy, Paypal protects both sides: buyer and seller). So I am no doubt that they should have many of those things and now try to avoid that by using credit card payment.

I am a platinum seller on Ebay (just to notice that my selling area is different with Tigerz11's area, so this topic is not relating to Tigerz11 on behalf of my business, this topic is just my personal story in a specific case with them only), I know how Paypal and Ebay work together and also I know how Paypal is not comfortable in some cases.

However, if the customers claim anything about items' quality, then that's seller's responsibility to make that transaction completed in the best way even the seller has to recall items and reimburse shipping fee. Not only that is the Term & Condition following Australian's law, but also that's the human being thought whenever the faulty is completely from the seller.

                          * Look at Toyota or Honda or other manufacture some times they have to recall million of their cars to repair/replace something inside that may (not exactly is already faulty) have faulty parts, then we should expect how other smaller sellers should response with their customers, either online or local business.

As I said above, I'm not on Tigerz side and I have my own issues with them.
See this thread for a sample of some of my dealings with them- http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...Anyone-got-one

I've seen very little evidence that PP supports sellers. In our experience its heavily in favour of the buyer with decisions being made without any consultation with the seller.
However if Tigerz are saying "not using Paypal because they don't want to get problems with Paypal in refunding and returning items and they claim they would have no protection" then that speaks about this company and its policies and as such should be treated accordingly.

From my checks tigerz11 DOES accept PayPal on eBay auctions. It is clearly listed in at least the 5 ads I checked or various items.

I would suggest you need to follow the warranty instructions on his site and eBay ads. See what resolve you get from that.
